This Senior Accountant role is a key position on the Optum Home and Community HouseCalls accounting team.


Primary Responsibilities:

  • Prepare standard month-end journal entries, accruals, and account reclassifications in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles
  • Assist in sourcing/recording HouseCalls Revenue/membership
  • Assist in recording SG&A accounting entries
  • Complete balance sheet reconciliations and investigate and resolve variances
  • Prepare monthly HouseCalls reporting and reconciliations
  • Prepare documentation in support of external and internal audits
  • Assist with the annual tax filing creation
  • Perform ad hoc reporting and analysis and investigate issues providing explanations and interpretation
  • Working extensively with large excel files and data along with working jointly with FP&A and UHC intersegment teams

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance or Accounting or equivalent
  • 1+ years of professional accounting experience
  • Solid understanding of generally accepted accounting principles and financial statements
  • Intermediate level of proficiency with Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, V-Lookups)
  • Proven detailed and well organized
  • Proven good oral and written communications skills
  • Proven ability to manage multiple competing priorities and meet tight deadlines


Preferred Qualification:

  • Experience with Hyperion Essbase, Peoplesoft Financial System and Tableau
