About this role:

Wells Fargo Wealth and Investment Management is seeking a Senior Data Engineer that will work with multiple agile teams to help design and maintain performant databases. This includes ongoing maintenance of several large databases primarily on Oracle as well as working with application teams to build out new databases on a variety of platforms such as Postgres, MongoDB, SQL Server and Neo4j and migrate existing data and functionality. In this role, you will:

• Lead moderately complex initiatives within Technology and contribute to large scale data processing framework initiatives related to enterprise strategy deliverables
• Build and maintain optimized and highly available data pipelines that facilitate deeper analysis and reporting
• Review and analyze moderately complex business, operational or technical challenges that require an in-depth evaluation of variable factors
• Oversee the data integration work, including developing a data model, maintaining a data warehouse and analytics environment, and writing scripts for data integration and analysis
• Resolve moderately complex issues and lead teams to meet data engineering deliverables while leveraging solid understanding of data information policies, procedures and compliance requirements
• Collaborate and consult with colleagues and managers to resolve data engineering issues and achieve strategic goals

Required Qualifications, US:

• 4+ years of Data Engineering experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education

• 2 + years of experience working with PowerDesigner, ER/Studio, ERWin or equivalent modeling tool.
• 2+ years of experience designing and deploying highly performant databases on one or more of Oracle, Postgres, Neo4j, MongoDB on premises or cloud.

Desired Qualifications:

• Ability to optimize database and application performance both by adoption of database techniques (partitioning, indexing) and query tuning and optimization.
• Familiarity with ETL tools (Informatica or equivalent)
• Familiarity with Kafka
• Ability to create deployment scripts and packaged deployments of database changes using automated deployment tools.
• Ability to code in Java or .Net
• Strong analytical skills
• Prior experience in the financial industry.

As a data engineer/ modeler this position will work with multiple agile teams to help design and maintain performant databases. This includes ongoing maintenance of several large databases primarily on Oracle as well as working with application teams to build out new databases on a variety of platforms such as Postgres, MongoDB, SQL Server and Neo4j and migrate existing data and functionality.

The role is also responsible for helping to maintain accurate data models, and metadata, as well as securing sensitive data using appropriate technology for each platform.
