Job description
The Prince William County, Department of Parks, Recreation, and Tourism (DPRT) has a service portfolio which includes 81 parks and facilities spread across 5,000 acres, two waterparks, four community pools, two indoor aquatic and fitness centers, three community centers, three golf courses, 50 miles of trails, 15 historic sites, and over 200 athletic fields.
The Ranger division is looking to expand their team with a new Park Ranger. Our ideal candidate possesses the desire to lead a diverse workforce, excellent communication skills, and a passion for community safety.
About This Role
Minimum Requirements
Preferences
- 5+ years of experience working for a parks and recreation agency
- Experience with law enforcement or military is preferred
- 3+ years of experience supervising staff of a large agency
- Possess a CPRP, CPP, or any other nationally recognized training certificate in Security
- IPMBA Mountain bike certification
- Current work schedule is a 4-day work week totaling 37.5 hours a week, Wednesday-Saturday
- Position subject to change in hours, on short notice, and to a 5-day work week
- This position is exposed to extreme weather conditions
- Incumbent must be able to stand and walk for extended periods in these conditions
- Must be able to walk long distances on uneven terrain
- Must have a valid Operator’s License and safe driving record
- Must have/or complete CPR, First Aid, and bloodborne pathogen training upon hire
- Must be able to pass IPMBA Mountain Bike course for security personnel within a year of hire
