Job description
Coordinate the assessment, planning, and evaluation of all public health, human services, and preparedness activities, including statistical analysis, report development, and information gathering activities in order to improve the health and well-being of the citizens of Columbia and Boone County.
Essential Job Functions
- Plan, design, and execute assigned studies and research projects; compile and catalog documentation and prepare reports relating to public health and human services issues.
- Assist in internal process evaluation and improvement. Coordinate accreditation work groups to achieve plans of action and complete other accreditation goals.
- Perform department strategic planning. Provide guidance to staff for continuous quality improvement processes and work with staff to achieve performance management goals.
- Collaborate with multiple community partners to maintain and improve local public health emergency preparedness plans. Develop and implement systems to train and exercise staff and partners for emergency response.
- Integrate with Public Health and Human Services personnel to identify, develop, implement, monitor, analyze, and evaluate programs, best practices, and funding opportunities.
- Work closely with partners to create presentations to facilitate identification of public health needs, gaps, and best practices.
- Facilitate and provide expertise for departmental grant and survey development.
Ancillary Job Functions
- Serve as liaison to external agencies and participate in designated conferences, seminars, and other meetings.
- Research evidence-based practices and report findings to management team and department directors.
- Read, interpret, organize, and maintain files and references on a variety of information related to public health and human services, including health data and needs, records, manuals, research, regulatory periodicals, and other assigned topics.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Education and Experience - An equivalent combination of education, training and experience will be considered
- Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, Biostatistics, Sociology, Public Administration, Health Education, or closely related field required.
- Minimum of two years relevant experience.
- Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities which may be representative, but not all-inclusive of those commonly associated with this position
- Considerable knowledge of public health and human services.
- Ability to interact effectively with local, state, and federal government officials; public health and human services staff; health and social service agency personnel; and community groups.
- Ability to lead planning teams and to work independently with minimum supervision.
- Ability to prepare detailed reports and work plans.
- Skill in operating a personal computer and related software.
- Ability to perform necessary research or investigations.
- Experience and skills with basic data analysis and survey development.
- Understanding of the needs of diverse populations and the health care access disparities suffered by various populations.
- Ability to adhere to deadlines and budget constraints. Understanding of budget implications of suggested changes and improvements.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.

- Must be able to lift up to 10 pounds.
- Regular attendance is a necessary and essential function.
