Be a crucial part of a fast-paced, agile engineering team working to define the future of space robotics! In this role, you will be providing software engineering services in support of a long-term contract with an industry-leading lunar lander company.
Responsibilities:
- Provide insight and quick decision making on architectural design of a scalable spacecraft communications network
- Contribute towards capability upgrade plan and generate test plan around those capabilities
- Coordinate development across a multi-disciplinary team of flight, simulation and ground software developers
- Communicate status and issues to the software lead and project/program leadership
- Represent software team through participation in design review milestones
- Mentor junior team members across technical and procedural aspects of software implementation
Skills and Qualifications:
- B.S. in computer science, physics, or engineering domain
- 7+ years of experience with software development
- 3+ years of experience leading a software team
- Experience with Delay-tolerant Networks (DTN) and Bundle Protocols
- Experience with embedded real-time systems
- Experience in agile software development
- Experience with Windows and POSIX-based operating systems
- Self-motivated and proactive
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Capable of both high quantity and high-quality output
- Ability to work in a fast paced, hard charging, high stakes environment
- A passion for spaceflight
Desired Qualifications:
- Experience with NASA JPL Interplanetary Overlay Network (ION)
- Experience with spacecraft simulation development and frameworks
- Experience with Atlassian tool suite (Confluence, Jira)
- Experience with GitLab CI
- Experience with various forms of I/O including serial protocols (RS-232, 422, 485), SpaceWire, TCP/IP, and UDP/IP
- Experience with Docker-based containerization
- Experience with AWS or other cloud based ecosystems
- Familiar with Consultative Committee for Space Data Systems (CCSDS) standards
