We are currently hiring a Sr. Solvent Extraction Engineer! In this role you will be responsible for monitoring, troubleshooting, and improving new process technologies to support our solvent extraction technology to produce nickel sulfate, manganese sulfate, cobalt sulfate and lithium carbonate. This position is based in our Westborough, MA location.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Lead development of new recycling processes involving elemental extraction from solution
• Setting up and identifying proper crystallization and distillation parameters and equipment for metal salts and mixed metal oxides
• Determining chemical and physical properties, compositions, structures, relationships, and reactions of organic and inorganic compounds
• Analyzing test results and preparing clear presentations to summarize outcomes and suggest next steps
• Design and execution of development and production plant continuous improvement projects in support of new product or process introduction projects.
• Use of traditional APQP and best practice tools such as PFD, DFMEA, PFMEA, SPC, and control plan
• Developing, improving, and customizing products, equipment, formulas, processes, and analytical methods

Qualifications and experience:

• Education: BS in Chemistry, Physics or Chemical Engineering
• Experience: 5 years industry experience (hydrometallurgy) required, academic lab experience does not fulfill this requirement
• Minimum of a BS in Chemical Engineering and 5+ years of relevant experience (solvent extraction plant operation and/or design, development and commissioning in one or more of the following metals: nickel, copper, manganese, cobalt, REE)
• Experience working with hazardous materials and processes
• Knowledge of lithium-ion battery materials or materials synthesis a plus
