QUALIFICATIONS Valid Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction teacher certification in 1 or more areas of special education: Cross-Categorical, Emotional/Behavioral Disabilities, Specific Learning Disability, Cognitive Disability or Speech and Language and possess at least 3-5 years of experience teaching students with disabilities in multiple areas. Master’s Degree in special education preferable. Director of Special Education license preferable. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Ability to interact professionally and work cooperatively in a multidisciplinary setting with students, parents, professional and support staff to meet the needs of students with IEP’s. Provide leadership of all special education services to all stakeholders. Provide efficient and appropriate leadership in the development, implementation, and evaluation of special education services offered to students with disabilities. Provide leadership in pupil services such as student records, emergency nursing services, guidance and counseling, AODA, English Language Learners, school psychology services, homebound instruction, homelessness, student safety and other programs and services as assigned. Lead and participate in improving student achievement. Possess knowledge and experience in the use of behavior management systems including Functional Behavioral Assessments (FBAs), Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs), the Response to Intervention (RtI) framework and Multi-level Systems of Support. Possess knowledge of legal/procedural requirements of IDEA, Evaluation, and IEP process and review IEP paperwork. Provide supervision and support for the Special Education Program Support Coordinators. Facilitate and manage Special Education Program Support Coordinator Meetings. Facilitate and lead IEP meetings as LEA representative. Review and process Special Education referrals and assign appropriate team members for evaluation and IEP development. Review and process IEP plans to ensure procedural compliance. Organize and facilitate the organization of Special Education Professional Development and Collaborations. Experience providing educational leadership, mentoring, and training as well as organize, plan and facilitate professional development for both regular and special education teachers, with emphasis on education of staff in procedural requirements and best practice. Consult, develop and implement strategies with principals, pupil services staff, and special education teachers regarding individual student needs to ensure student success. Work collaboratively with instructional support staff to assist in meeting the academic needs of all students. Administer and oversee the Special Education Student Management System for individual education program (IEP) and 504 team process to ensure compliance with State and Federal regulations. Create and maintain special education and 504 documents, user rights, and user groups within Infinite Campus. Prepare and submit required reports in a timely manner to ensure accurate reporting of Special Education Data. Knowledge and data management of WISEdata Portal, WISEdash Portal, Special Education Portal, WISEadmin Portal, and WISEgrants for accurate reporting. Work with the SIS Manager to ensure Special Education Data is accurately reported to state agencies. Work with DPI Officials and local Special Education Personnel to ensure compliance with the Procedural Compliance Self Assessment. Assist the Director of Special Education in special education placement decisions for students with disabilities. Serve as a district contact for the Infinite Campus Special Education Focus Group and User Group. Assist the Director of Special Education and the Director of Pupil Services with other assigned tasks. Maintain a high level of professional interpersonal relations and knowledge of established district procedures.
