What you will do:
We are looking for a proactive in leading and/or participating on cross functional teams (i.e., manufacturing, design, quality, supply chain) with team members located in different regions, globally, to drive continuous improvement of products and processes to improve the performance of heat pump units. This person must have the knowledge to help guide the teams technically to resolve sophisticated product design and application issues based on years of product experience, education, and training.

How you will do it:
- Participates on product development teams with emphasis on DFMEA’s, design reviews, reliability test plans, design for manufacturing and helping to coordinate and follow up on field testing.
- Working with the Technical Communications Group is responsible for the technical content of service literature which includes Installation and Operations Manuals, Service Manuals and Repair Parts List for industrial heat pump units.
- Responsible for the technical content of training materials.
- Communicates with design, manufacturing and service groups globally sharing lessons learned and best practices to prevent issues from arising on new products being introduced to the marketplace and improve product quality and cost.
- Interacts globally with internal Design Engineering, Manufacturing, Manufacturing Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Quality and Service groups as well as component suppliers regarding component design making certain that we maintain a high level of quality and that the products we sell are reliable.
- Participates on Warranty Teams to keep abreast of field issues and participate with multi-disciplined teams to find root cause and corrective actions for resolution of these issues. Must be proactive, stepping in to take the lead, coordinating and directing actions, to resolve issues as the situation may require.
What we look for:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Manufacturing, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering. Other forms of training and/or education will be considered.
- Must have a minimum of 15 years of experience with the design, operation and/or manufacturing of heat pump units.
- Experience working on product development team with knowledge of Product Development Process(es) including design reviews, DFMEA’s and product reliability testing.
- Ability to work as part of multifunctional team.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite Applications (Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint) as well as Internet software and E-mail is required.
- Experience accessing and using manufacturing systems a plus. Proven Six Sigma skills are a plus.
- Communicate optimally to all levels within the organization and be proficient in English. Ability to speak Spanish and Mandarin would be a plus.
- Domestic and International travel is required (approximately 15% of time).

My name is Daniel Woodring, I have been working with the York / JCI team for 28 + years. I have worked within our manufacturing plants as a product line supervisor, Quality Engineer for product lines as well as a supplier Quality Engineer. I then transferred to provide technical support to our field technicians for compressors and eventually supported the team as the manager. I currently have been provided the opportunity to work directly with our Tier III technical support team of Subject Matter Experts (SME). This team is engaged with clients, field technicians, design engineers, as well as all levels of leadership within JCI on a global basis. This is a multifaceted position working with many aspects of the business such as new designs, identifying, and presenting reliability and serviceability risk, working on mature design improvements, crafting literature for the platforms, and visiting plants to participate in quality audits and reviewing how chillers are manufactured.
