Job Summary
This role is primarily responsible for the federal and state income tax compliance for Compass Group and its subsidiaries. Additionally, the role will be responsible for assisting with complex book/tax calculations while seeking to further improve efficiency. This role will interact with colleagues within the U.S. Corporate office, including Finance, Legal, Treasury, and various internal and external contacts.
- Assist with preparation and consolidation of federal income tax return, including general ledger data conversion, book-tax calculations, separate entity federal pro-formas, and other reconciling schedules
- Prepare state and local income and franchise tax returns, including extension requests and estimated payments
- Assist with preparation of income tax provision, including the reconciliation and support of current and deferred tax account balances
- Assist with calculation of taxable income projections as needed for quarterly tax installments
- Preparation of federal and state tax depreciation and schedules to support deferred tax balances associated with tangible assets
- Assist with responding to information requests for federal and state tax audits
- Respond to tax notices and inquiries
- Stay up to date with tax laws and regulations at the federal, state, and local level
- Identify and recommend process improvements, including leveraging automation to streamline workflows
- Assist with special projects as needed
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Tax required; Master’s degree preferred
- CPA or CPA candidate strongly preferred
- 3+ years of progressive corporate income tax experience in public accounting and/or large corporate tax department
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel, proficiency with Corporate Tax software and ERP systems required
- Excellent analytical, technical, tax and accounting skills
- Ability to independently research issues and document conclusions
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage large amounts of data
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work cross-functionally and be a team player
- Ability to work effectively under pressure of tight deadlines in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
- Must be able to work extended hours as needed to meet internal and external deadlines
