The Ship Store / Fuel Dock Manager plans and directs the day-to-day operations of the retail store and fuel sales. The Ship Store Manager must assure all store cashier and dockhands perform their duties to a high standard and that customers are satisfied with their shopping experiences.

The Ship Store Manager works with the GM to develop strategies to improve customer service, drive store sales, increase profitability, create store policies and marketing programs that will increase sales and grow the existing customer base. The Ship Store Manager’s role is critical to ensure customer needs are met, complaints are resolved, and service is quick and efficient.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Provide exceptional customer service.
• Hire, train, and manage store and dock staff.
• Assure adequate coverage for both store and dock staff.
• Meet sales goals by training, motivating, mentoring, and providing feedback to store staff.
• Research, update, and communicate product sources, which could increase volume and profitability of the sales operation.
• Complete purchase orders, receive product, and properly price product for sale.
• Assure products are transferred properly between departments or locations.
• Keep up to date on new products and services offered.
• Maintain the store in a neat, orderly fashion; make replacements and improvements, as necessary.
• Make sure that all stock pricing is up-to-date and on the shelves in a timely fashion.
• Maintain outstanding store condition and visual merchandising standards.
• Carry out the year-end inventory and any intermediate inventories required throughout the fiscal year.
• Communicate with GM consistently regarding staff challenges, successes, and needs.
• Assist where needed when business is slow.
• Contribute to the overall success and appearance of the marina.
• Assume other duties and responsibilities required or assigned by management.

OPERATING RESPONSIBILITIES:

Work performed and composed of a variety of different tasks, calling for use of judgment and compliance with policies and procedures. Must be a self-starter and able to work independently.

Requires excellent interpersonal skills and computer literacy.  Manages several projects at one time and may be interrupted frequently to meet the needs and requests of employees and/or customers.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:

Store clerks and fuel dockhands

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

• Knowledge of marine accessories and supplies preferred
• Have a love for boating and water sports preferred
• Experience with oversight of multiple locations preferred
• Ability to effectively communicate remotely
• Present a professional appearance and could hold staff accountable to the same standard
• Demonstrated ability to communicate and interact positively with people
• Demonstrated ability to think creatively and embrace challenges in a positive manner
• Outgoing, self-motivated, and the ability to maintain a positive attitude and be pleasant
• Ability to work without supervision
• Ability to lift  25 pounds consistently and 50 pounds occasionally
• Work 40 plus hours when necessary during busy periods
• Work weekends and holidays
