The Big Picture:

Summary:

Mortenson is currently seeking an experienced Sourcing Manager with the ability to interact with a variety of staff at all levels in an ever-changing environment, remaining flexible, resourceful, proactive and efficient with a high level of professionalism and confidentiality.

The Sourcing Manager is responsible for identifying and managing short and long-term sourcing strategies, contracts and relationships for their specified commodities within our Energy Storage and Solutions operating groups.

Responsibilities:

Develop Sourcing Strategy for Materials in the Energy Construction Market.

• Identify and engage with internal stakeholders to capture commodity requirements
• Assess opportunity for material type including spend segmentation, commodity maturity, cost drivers, supplier landscape and supply market analysis
• Develop Sourcing Strategy for material type detailing projects, sourcing levers, timing, resources, and expected benefits, such as margin expansion and value to the customer.
• Adapts the strategy as business, market, and economic environments change
• Support Quarterly and Annual Reviews including updated projects, metrics, strategy, and countermeasures

Manage Relationships with Key Suppliers

• Maintain relationship with suppliers at the Leadership level
• Conducts supplier business reviews
• Monitor supplier’s quality and delivery performance
• Leverage relationship to assist buyers with expedites, quality issues, and special requirement as needed

Achieve Material Cost Reductions for Energy Market Materials

• Initiates and conducts supplier contract negotiations
• Responsible for defining negotiations strategy including supplier profiles, commercial negotiations targets, defining switching costs, and building Total Cost of Ownership (TCO)
• Analyzes market drivers affecting the material (raw material, component availability, supply and demand, etc.)
• Responsible for forecasting, reporting, mitigating, and recovery of commodity inflation

Education:

• Minimum 5 years’ experience strategically managing material spend
• Knowledge of construction processes and materials
• Experience presenting in front of Senior Leadership
• 4 year degree in either business or technical

This position requires up to 30% travel and is located in Golden Valley, MN
