Sr. Systems Engineering Manager, R&D IT
We are seeking a highly motivated individual to join us as a Sr. Systems Engineering Manager, R&D IT. You will work with the Information Technology team in supporting our efforts in this exciting new area of cell therapy.
This role will work closely with the R D business functions to support the technology solutions that meet our critical business needs. This important role requires business analysis, and project management skills as well as hands-on technical knowledge for large scale cloud based solutions such as statistical computing environment (ex, SAS/RStudio), medical monitoring and clinical data review, and cell therapy research multi-modal ecosystem.
Key Accountabilities:
- Be the individual accountable for execution and delivery of technology solutions by managing across IT (infrastructure, shared services, developers, vendors, security, etc.) and business functions (Research groups, Clinical Development functional areas)
- Collaborate with Project Managers, Operations Teams, Developers, Technology Partners, and Quality Assurance on scope, solutions, constraints, and risks
- To be successful in the role, the lead should have extensive experience and skills in Cloud technology, R D data processing and integration platforms design and development capabilities
- Analyze/document current and future business process models and be able to identify areas of potential improvement
- Use your knowledge of solutions to make and support recommendations to business partners, consistent with IT governance policies
- Perform knowledge transfer and provide ongoing leadership to support project go-live and beyond (operations support activities)
Basic Qualifications:
- PhD degree in Computer/Engineering or equivalent and 1+ years of IT solution development experience in industry OR
- Master’s degree preferably in Computer/Engineering or equivalent and 6+ years of IT solution development experience in Industry OR
- Bachelor’s degree preferably in in Computer/Engineering or equivalent and 12+ years of IT solution development experience in Industry
Preferred Qualifications:
- 5+ years’ experience as Research or Clinical IT technical lead delivering information systems projects
- Biotech/Life Science industry experience is strongly preferred
- Ability to quickly pick up and learn multiple IT systems
- Experience supporting the Clinical technology platforms: Medidata RAVE, Veeva Vault, RStudio, SAS, Salesforce, AWS Cloud Computing
- Experience delivering reporting platforms using Tableau, or Spotfire (or other reporting solutions) sourcing the data from AWS Clinical Data Repositories (EDC, Lab data)
- Extensive experience working with Clinical data management, data modeling concepts, ETL tools and advanced analytics.
- Strong understanding of AWS Cloud Infra components architecture, ETL, Airflow, PySpark , GitHub ,Python and administration of CI/CD pipelines.
- Comfortable in a fast-paced environment with minimal direction and able to adjust workload based upon changing priorities
- Demonstrated excellence in critical thinking and analysis, small and large group facilitation, and presentation skills
- Experience with SaaS, PaaS and IaaS models
- Experience in Computer Systems Validation and GxP processes
- Demonstrated ability/experience in thinking at a high-level while also being able to dive into the details
- Good interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
- Ability to work after hours as needed

The salary range for this position is: $138,890.00 - $179,740.00. Gilead considers a variety of factors when determining base compensation, including experience, qualifications, and geographic location. These considerations mean actual compensation will vary. This position may also be eligible for a discretionary annual bonus, discretionary stock-based long-term incentives (eligibility may vary based on role), paid time off, and a benefits package. Benefits include company-sponsored medical, dental, vision, and life insurance plans*.
