Job description
Maintains general ledger and reviews financial statements. Examines a variety of transactions for completeness, internal accuracy, and conformity with established accounting classifications.
Essential Job Functions:
- Maintains general ledger by preparing journal entries, reconciling general ledger accounts, and updating monthly workpapers.
- Reviews expense accounts to ensure accuracy and conformity with established accounting classifications.
- Reviews all A/P transactions for reasonableness, accurate expense and project coding and sales tax, if applicable.
- Completes bank reconciliations and prepares journal entries.
- Establishes new project #’s as needed and compiles supporting documentation to close recurring and nonrecurring projects.
- Analyzes project cost to ensure accuracy of amounts allocated to projects including payroll, material cost, overhead allocations, and direct purchases.
- Month-end closing responsibilities.
- Assists in preparation of annual budget based on historical trends and new build projections.
- Gathers support for year-end audit test selections.
- Performs all other related duties as assigned by Accounting Manager.*

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Highly skilled in math, accounting, and financial processes with strong analytic and problem-solving skills.
- High proficiency in Excel and accounting software.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Proven ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
- Knowledge of company policies and procedures, products, and services.
- Ability to make sound decisions using information at hand.
- Ability to pay close attention to detail.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field plus one to two years accounting experience.
- Experience with Dynamics GP helpful
