The Sterilization and Laboratory Technician (SLT) is responsible for running and maintaining the sterilization and the laboratory areas. This position is a critical part of the Practice as it provides the cleaning, maintenance, and supplies of the majority of the equipment used in the office in order to conduct day to day operations. The SLT works closely with the Practice Manager, Department Leads, Doctors, Sterilization Assistant, and Spoonwood Dental Partners to effectively plan, prepare, and execute the daily functions of the Practice. The SLT will also have additional responsibilities that may include project management, supplies ordering, assignments, research, and execution of tasks. We are looking for a self-dependent Team member who is not afraid of troubleshooting and working with a large Team. The ideal candidate will be eager to learn and a good multitasker.

Major Duties & Responsibilities:

Laboratory:

  • Fabrication of oral appliances/models with our 3D printer
  • Identifying, scheduling, and coordinating maintenance of all clinical equipment
  • Dealing with Benco for service calls
  • Sending out equipment for repairs
  • Proposals for new equipment/purchases
  • Maintenance of small fixes/issues

Sterilization:

  • Sterilization upkeep including testing
  • Prepare hygiene and assistant trays
  • Training of new clinical hires in sterilization
  • Monitor and educate staff on infection control practices

Other:

  • Tracking, ordering and purchasing dental supplies as needed
  • Putting together a weekly order to be approved by the Practice Lead
  • Assist other clinical staff as needed
  • Assist clinical staff on Spark (message software) with equipment/help needed during treatment appointments
  • Assist in set up/break down and sterilize operatories
  • Follow and demonstrate commitment to Raynor Dental policies, professional expectations and Protocols.
  • Checking and responding to the clinical email address
  • Research and order new products/supplies requested by clinical staff as needed

Down Time Protocols:

Deep clean rooms weekly including restrooms. Maintain cleanliness of common areas i.e. dishes, laundry and trash removal. Stock rooms with supplies as required. Continuously review and prep for the daily schedule (making sure we have all cases for appointments).

Qualifications:

1+ years previous experience in the dental field is preferred, though on-the-job training is provided. Some knowledge of dental and medical terminology is necessary to be able to answer any questions that the patient might have. Must be able to adapt to any type of situation, think quickly on their feet, and treat each patient as a valued client and ensure that they are cared for in a quick and efficient manner. They must also be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment. Motivating team player. Strong computer and analytical skills. HS or GED education and/or higher.

Pay: $16.00 - $20.00 based on experience
