Job Goals
:
To teach preschool aged children with Autism Spectrum Disorders, along with a variety of other Developmental Delays and Developmental Disabilities, using evidence-based instructional practices based on the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), in order to ensure that students gain skills in the areas of pre-academics, play skills, functional communication, self-help skills, and social skills, with the goal of building independence in all areas of their lives.


Performance Responsibilities
:

  • Work collaboratively as a member of the educational team
  • Develop and implement Individual Educational Programs (IEPs)
  • Collect and analyze data to develop and implement skill acquisition programs based on ABA principals (including, but not limited to - Discrete Trial Training, Task Analyses, Incidental Teaching, and Verbal Behavior)
  • Develop measurable goals and objectives in all domains of learning
  • Collaborate with BCAB to assist in the development and implementation of Behavior Support Plans and over all data collection.
  • Consult with ABA trained Instructional Assistants (IA), BCBA, Integrated Classroom Teacher and related service providers.
  • Oversee student program components for ABA trained IAs working with ABA Program students
  • Develop student schedules within the classroom
  • Ensure that all components of the students’ ABA programs and IEPs are implemented
  • Collect and analyze data towards progress of the IEP goals and objectives including both skill acquisition and behavior management data
  • Consult with and assist inclusion teachers in meeting the behavioral needs of students within the general education setting.
  • Consult with team members regarding Behavior Plans, curriculum modifications, accommodations, and social skills.
  • Attend IEP team meetings
  • Implement federal and state special education laws, regulations, and mandates
  • Communicate effectively with parents
  • Participate in district-wide and program-specific Professional Development
  • Assume such responsibilities as assigned by the Director of Early Childhood


Educational Requirements
:

  • Degree in Early Childhood Education (required)
  • Degree or certification in moderate Special Education (required)
  • Experience working with students with Autism (required)
  • Experience with ABA and Behavior Plans (preferred)
