We are seeking a Substitute Driver/Transportation Trainer. The work schedule as a Substitute Driver depends upon scheduling needs for covering for existing staff driver vacations and sick leave. Driving schedules for full-time drivers are split shift, usually 6:30a-9a and 2:30-5:30pm, as a Substitute driver coverage will be needed. Additionally, this position will also assist with training new staff on driving agency vehicles, about 15-20 hours per month, depending on number of new staff hired each month. The hourly range for the position is $16-$18/hour depending on experience. Applicant must be compassionate and organized. Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures and systems, such as word processing, managing files, time management skills and other office procedures and terminology.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION:
- The Substitute Driver will be transporting individuals to and from programs as needed. Responsible for following protocol and maintaining services of the vehicle at all times. Drivers will notify the supervisor immediately regarding the care of an individual, self and property. Must be able to exert up to 50 lbs. of force occasionally and exert up to 50 lbs. of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
- The Transportation Trainer will assist the Transportation Coordinator as needed, to include van training for new and current staff, managing gas cards, filing, maintaining current insured drivers listing using Microsoft Word and Managing transportation database in Microsoft Access.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Minimum high school diploma or GED
- A valid Virginia Driver’s license
- Licensed U.S. driver with a good driving record for the past three years of continuous driving experience and meets the Agency’s insurance requirements
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Experience using computers
- Experience with Microsoft Access and Microsoft Word
- The ability to attend and pass onsite training classes within the first 30 days of hire.
- Must pass Criminal and Child Protective Services Background investigations conducted for all employees.
- During first 6 weeks, applicant will be attending trainings to learn the driving routes of program participants
