The Superintendent is responsible for the coordination, planning, and execution of all aspects of engineering, procurement, and construction work performed by Coldwell Solar direct hire employees, and subcontractors as assigned by the Construction Manager.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Train and educate field personnel in company best practices and create training protocols to correct installation deficiencies.
  • Supervise crews on multiple job sites and locations.
  • Ensure weekly tailgate trainings are completed and appropriate paperwork is submitted on time.
  • Monitor work performance and productivity to ensure procedures and safety requirements are maintained.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Advise Construction Manager of potential problems, work interferences, schedule difficulties, etc.
  • Complete daily and weekly work progress and work schedule forecasts.
  • Ensure assigned construction operations and subcontractor performance are in compliance with specifications
  • Participate in pre-construction planning of projects
  • Conduct weekly safety inspections of field personnel to ensure all field personnel are following proper safety protocols.
  • Ensure the most current design document is used to complete the work and that all design changes are approved prior to implementation.
  • Monitor work activity and ensure the quality of work performed.
  • Establish and maintain effective communication channels with lead installers, project manager and project designers.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Prior supervisory experience required.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Thorough understanding of plans, specifications, and regulations.
  • Ability to remain flexible and efficient in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to make intelligent and quick decisions, working well under pressure, and when faced with unexpected occurrences or delays.
  • Ability to effectively multitask while analyzing and solving problems.
  • Thorough understanding of construction drawings.

Education and Experience:

  • 5 years minimum experience working in construction, preferably in the solar or roofing industry.
  • Extensive knowledge of solar industry, electrical codes, and OSHA requirements.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Science, Construction Management, or Civil Engineering a bonus.
  • Valid CA driver’s license required.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to traverse and inspect all areas of jobsite in all types of weather; this may include walking, climbing, reaching, bending, crawling, or stretching.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at a time.
  • May require travel.
  • Exposure to characteristic construction site dangers.
  • Must be on-call to address delays, emergencies, bad weather, and other issues at the jobsite.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $80,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
