Basic Purpose
Responsibilities
- Oversees the business account activities of the assigned region. Monitors and evaluates business operations and determines specific guidelines to achieve desired objectives and initiatives. Implements related policies and procedures as needed. Ensures coordination of effort and appropriate distribution of work. Plans and oversees implementation of member events, branch education, outbound contact programs and direct mail campaigns.
- Screens, delegates, and/or assumes credit opportunities generated within assigned market in accordance with grade level and performance objectives. Assumes most complex credit deals and maintains harmonious/productive relationships within the assigned region. Advises customers on various business financial services based on information received from BAO’s and determines which business lending services/products offered by Navy Federal will best address the needs of the member. Monitors supporting information for underwriting and closing of business loans to ensure accuracy and turnaround time.
- Performs supervisory duties: selects employees, conducts performance appraisals, counsels, trains and develops employees. Develops and conducts employee workshops, holds team meetings to determine status of goals and expectations. Advises management and employees about business service related issues. Makes budgetary recommendation regarding equipment and staffing needs. Identifies trends within the industry, and at Navy Federal, and their affect on the business services portfolio.
- Mentors and guides staff regarding available resource capabilities to improve their overall skill level. Ensures proper recordkeeping and provides technical advice and guidance to BAO’s. Provides leadership and serves as resource person and resolves unsettled issues and communicates changes in plans and/or strategy.
- Reports on team progress to management; develops project plans and provides information to management to assist in setting priorities.
- Monitors business loan closing process and loan proceeds disbursement. Conducts on-sight visual inspections of businesses ensuring collateral and/or covenants for all assigned loans are being abided by member businesses. Assists with all servicing and collections issues for assigned loans.
- Maintains and updates the contact management database (Client Advisor) documenting experiences, findings and possible issues or opportunities with assigned member businesses or business market.
- Performs other related duties as assigned, or appropriate.
Qualifications
- Experience in leading a team of small business banking officers
- Business account management experience involving the marketing of a business product/services program, and providing services and problem resolution for business service members
- Solid experience in closing business loans and overseeing the disbursement of funds
- Good knowledge/experience preparing business loan packages for submission to the SBA or a third party underwriting operation, familiarity with SBA eligibility standards, loan, pre-closing and post-closing documentation
- Thorough understanding/familiarity with financial ratios and concepts – such as liquidity, coverage and operating ratios and cash flow analysis
- Excellent oral and communication skills, including skill in negotiating, presenting, establishing and maintaining working relationships with all levels of management, staff and members
- Good knowledge of PCs, word processing, and spreadsheets
Desired
- Graduation from a college or university with major course work in a discipline related to the work of the position: i.e., Finance, Business Administration and/or Accounting, Marketing and/or Communications
- Credit union industry experience
- Knowledge of Navy Federal organization, policies and procedures
Working conditions: Employee is required to be available for travel and may occasionally be required to adjust his/her work schedule in order to complete work assignments

Navy Federal is now hybrid! Our standard enterprise requirement for a hybrid schedule is to report on-site 4-16 days each month. The number of days reporting on-site will ultimately be determined by the employee's leadership and business unit needs. You will learn more throughout the hiring and on boarding process.
Salary Range: $85,500.00 - $146,300.00 annually
Navy Federal Credit Union assesses market data to establish salary ranges that enable us to remain competitive. You are paid within the salary range, based on your experience, location and market position.
