JOB SUMMARY
:
This position has the responsibility to comply with Safety work rules at all times as well as an obligation to reinforce Safety as a Core Value. Ensures that all policies, procedures and activities, related to Food Safety & Quality, are followed and complied with uniformly, in an effort to reduce product and process variability.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
:
- Move trailers and tankers in and out of the dock area and tanker bay as directed by dispatch on time with no cargo loss or damage.
- Check trailer temperatures.
- Fuel reefers and switcher truck. Check trailer inventories and inspect cargo to ensure proper loading, securing and weight distribution of said cargo to protect cargo against shifting, damage and /or theft.
- Assist in loading and unloading of cargo if necessary.
- Wash out trailers when needed.
- Complete all paperwork accurately and submit it promptly.
- Ensure compliance with all Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations relating to the operation of a commercial motor vehicle.
- Comply with hours of service regulations.
- Perform proper pre-operation inspections as required by Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations and company guidelines to ensure vehicle and trailer/tanker are in safe operating condition.
- Watch for and report unsafe conditions in parking areas.
- Must be courteous, cooperative and respectful at all times and contact the immediate supervisor to handle any conflicts that do occur.
- Assist in other areas as needed.
- Expected to adhere to safe work practices becoming of a VPP Star worksite, follow GMP and HACCP guidelines, maintain sanitary conditions and ensure that product quality is maintained in order to maintain SQF Level 3 certification. Report to management any conditions or practices that may adversely affect food safety, food quality or personnel safety.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
:
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
One year certificate from college or technical school or equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, and diagram or schedule form.
LICENSES, CERTIFICATES, REGISTRATIONS:
- Powered Industrial Truck (PIT) Certification
- CDL Class A Driver’s license with Tanker Endorsement
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Specific skills and abilities required that are not included in other sections:
- Valid CDL (Class A) license with Tanker endorsement.
- Be familiar with all state and federal motor carrier regulations pertaining to the operations of a commercial vehicle.
- Ability to read and write English and follow verbal instructions
- Ability to lift 50 lbs. safely
- Obtain PIT certification and use motorized power jacks and/or hand jacks as needed
- Ability to crank landing gear/dolly legs up or down
- Ability to climb up into and down from tractors, trailers and tankers via stationary steps/ladders and using a 3-point contact method for safety.
- Ability to interact with customers/people in a professional manner.
- Must successfully pass the 90 day probationary period
