Job description
This position will be performed on-site at the Research Lab in Rome, NY.
We are seeking a motivated information technology specialist to provide system administration support for unclassified and classified Information Division (RIS) research and development computing environments. The candidate will be responsible for the installation and maintenance of Windows and Linux systems on multiple Department of Defense (DoD) networks. They will also be responsible for ensuring the compliance of all systems. The candidate will work closely with RIS project teams consisting of government, military, and contractor personnel to support research, development, integration and experimentation. The candidate will provide RIS Division hardware purchasing and tracking support.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Provide systems administration including installation, configuration, management, backup and recovery to Linux and Windows systems.
- Ensure compliance with the DoD's Information Assurance Vulnerability Alert process, Notice to Airmen directives, and Time Compliance Network Order directives are applied within a timely manner.
- Assure databases are populated accurately reflecting the current system and licensing information.
- Provide project specific and integration support.
- Provide RIS Division hardware purchasing and tracking support.
Required Skills:
- Must be able to obtain a SECRET clearance, Top Secret preferred
- CompTIA Security+ certification or higher Information Assurance Technical (IAT) Certification
- Windows and Linux Computing Environment Training Certificate
- Must have excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Must be able to work alone and on a team.
Required Experience:
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field
- System administration experience with both Windows and Linux computing platforms.
- System and network troubleshooting skills.
- Experience with Shavlik and Nessus desirable.
