Garda Capital Partners (Garda) is a multi-billion dollar alternative investment firm with over 19 years of experience deploying relative value strategies across fixed income markets for institutional investors. Garda has offices in Wayzata, New York City, West Palm Beach, Geneva, Zug, Copenhagen, and Singapore.

Garda is looking to hire a Tax Manager to be a part of our Accounting Team based out of our Wayzata office. The position reports to the Director of Tax.

Position Responsibilities

  • Work with corporate accounting and third-party service providers on the management company's global tax compliance function including federal and state K-1s and tax returns, and non-US tax filings
  • Prepare various tax forms and filings in-house including but not limited to 1099 and 1042 reporting, US tax residency certifications, transfer pricing documentation, state pass-through entity tax elections, as well as related tax payments
  • Prepare quarterly and annual tax estimates
  • Work with Garda's fund accounting team and external tax preparers to ensure accurate and timely completion of fund tax reporting including PFIC Statements, Schedule K-1s and tax returns
  • Manage Garda and Fund CRS and W form documentation and review vendor tax forms
  • Coordinate with management company and fund accounting to review tax provisions for the financial statements and prepare ASC 740 memos
  • Assist with analyzing vendor taxes for the management company's and funds' invoices (VAT, sales tax)
  • Ensure Garda's robust control environment is maintained across offices with regard to tax reporting, implementing improvements to ensure best in class oversight and managing tax filing tracker
  • Manage the communication with tax authorities with regards to federal and state notices
  • Research or coordinate with tax providers on various tax questions and issues that arise and document positions
  • Assist with various other ad-hoc tax and non-tax projects including but not limited to tax and financial modeling and assist the accounting function, as available

Qualifications & Desired Skills

  • 4-year degree in Accounting or related field
  • Minimum of four (4) years of tax experience; preferably in the asset management industry
  • Partnership tax experience required
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to engage effectively with members of multiple business units
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, time sensitive team environment
  • Strong organizational and time management skills

This role is also eligible for other forms of compensation and benefits, such as a discretionary bonus, healthcare plan, 401(k) matching program, etc. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, such as job-related skills, experience, and relevant education.

Base Salary for this role is expected to be between:

$100,000—$150,000 USD
