Job description
Archbishop Borders School, the only Dual Language School in the Archdiocese of Baltimore, has an opening for a Spanish speaking teacher to be responsible for the fifth grade classroom as well as teaching grades 4 and 5, a half day of each. The teacher will be responsible for all 3 subject areas (Spanish Language Arts, Science, and Religion). The teacher will collaborate with other disciplines to promote cross-curricular activities. The candidate must be fluent in Spanish. This position requires excellent communication and collaboration skills, as it involves co-planning of lessons and curricula.
Job Responsibilities:
- Assume responsibility for the fifth grade classroom
- Teach 3 subjects in Spanish (Spanish Language Arts, Science, and Religion).
- Responsible for teaching children of all ability levels and adjusting the curriculum for all learners
- Responsible for continuing education to maintain teacher certification and faith formation.
- Collaborates with partner teachers and other members of the academic team in planning and implementing the instructional program
- Participates in faculty meetings, school committees, and in-service learning opportunities
- Participates and assist in planning in School Activities, e.g. Field Day, Field Trips, Prayer and Liturgical gatherings, Bobcat Fun Run, Christmas Play, May festival.
- Plan and supervise a minimum of one field trip per year
- Responsible for rotational duties such as lunch and playground
- Maintain an attractive and engaging learning environment
Job Requirements:
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in elementary
- MSDE certification in elementary
- Bilingual: English and Spanish – Native Spanish Speaker with fluency in English preferred
- Practicing Catholic
- Proficient with technology, multi-media equipment.
