The Tissue Culture Technician assists in the in-house Tissue Culture lab with preserving, storing, and cleaning genetics. The tech aids in preparing samples for third-party testing and is involved with pathogen testing that occurs in the laboratory. The duties of this individual may not be limited to the lab.

Responsibilities and Duties:

• Maintain plant cells in the tissue culture lab, including subculturing, monitoring growth, and maintaining sterile conditions.
• Assist with research activities such as collecting and analyzing data, preparing samples, and METRC data entry.
• Collaborate with the R&D team to troubleshoot experiments and develop solutions to improve lab processes.
• Execute against production plan by following the SOP's.
• Set up and operate equipment, including microscope, environmental chambers, and autoclave.
• Maintain accurate laboratory records and prepare reports summarizing experimental data.
• Adhere to all laboratory safety protocols.
• Maintain a meticulously clean and organized work environment.
• Dissect and test tissues or cells for viruses and other diseases.
• Cut and transfer plants to fresh medium using aseptic/sterile technique.
• Assist with plant media preparation suitable for the species to be cloned.

Qualifications:

• Must have strong lab analytical skills and be familiar with general laboratory equipment.
• Experience with plant tissue culture techniques preferred.
• Must be able to work independently yet be an enthusiastic collaborator.
• Willing to take direction and learn new skills.
• Must be detail oriented with a high degree of accuracy.
• Must possess the following skillsets: organization, problem-solving, team player, and time management.
• Experience with data entry: electronic and manual
• Must be 21 years of age or older as required by the Massachusetts Cannabis Control Commission
• Able to pass all background checks as mandated by Massachusetts Cannabis Control Commission

Physical Demands & Work Environment:

• Minimal exposure to biohazardous chemicals.
• Must be able to sit for 8-hour shifts.
• Must be able to lift/carry up to 25 pounds.
• Must wear PPE including but not limited to lab coat, gloves, eye protection, and face mask.
• Reaching overhead.
• Using a stepstool.
• Gross and fine manipulation of hands and fingers.
• Near visual acuity required (with or without correction).
