POSITION SUMMARY: The Field Equipment Operator is responsibility for the coordination and execution of pesticide applications in a safe and effective manner. This role will be responsible for operating complex equipment as well as managing several elements of the application process under the supervisor of the Spray Supervisor.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

• Operate tractors from 75 Hp to 400 HP
• Operate Air Blaster Sprayer
• Operate towed machines such as spray rigs or spreaders to fertilize, dust, and spray crops.
• Operate other equipment related to field operations such as: backhoe, shredder, rake, front cutter, mower, badger, scraper, rototill, disc, chisel, discs, chisel.
• Spray fertilizer or pesticide solutions to control insects, fungus and weed growth, and diseases, using hand sprayers.
• Spread fertilizer with ranchero or dribble rig.
• Attach farm implements such as plows, discs, sprayers, or tractors, using bolts and hand tools.
• Mix specified materials or chemicals, and dump solutions, powders into sprayer machinery.
• Observe and listen to machinery operation to detect equipment malfunctions.
• Watch gauges, dials, or other indicators to make sure a machine is working properly

Must understand Department Pesticide regulations.

• Willing to work some nights, early mornings, and weekends.
• Operate CAT D11 / Laser Scraper

QUALIFICATIONS

• Education and Experience
• High school diploma or GED preferred but not required.
• 1 year of experience as general labor at the fields.
• Valid current Driver's License

Skills

• 2 years of experience operating tractors, discs, chisel, and other equipment related to field operations.
• Special training in the proper operation of all equipment.
• Ability to communicate clearly.
• Ability to follow routine verbal and written instructions
• Ability to understand and follow specific instructions and procedures
• Ability to read, understand, follow safety procedures.
• Ability and willingness to work weekends, holiday, and extended hours.

While performing the duties of this job the employee will be exposed to open air farming environment, stone fruit orchards (peaches, plums, nectarines), subject to natural weather.
Exposure to extreme temperature, humidity and wetness, dust, wind, heat, cold, gas, fumes, chemicals, and other natural elements.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $16.25 - $17.25 per hour
