Waste Data System Database Administrator
Job description
Seeking candidates for a rewarding career opportunity to support the Waste Isolation Pilot Plant (WIPP) and be part of the nation’s only repository for the disposal of nuclear waste known as Transuranic (TRU) waste. We seek a Waste Data System (WDS) Database Administrator in our National TRU Program Packaging and Information System Department in Carlsbad, New Mexico.
The successful candidate will be responsible to maintain and administer the database for the Waste Data System (WDS). This includes the installation, updates and maintenance of the ORACLE database software; the development and application of scripts to support the WDS application; modification and maintenance of the database schemas and objects; configuration of the software and schemas; optimization and tuning of queries and database health; administration of access roles and grants; performing backup and restoration of the databases; and interfacing with customers and management to answer data queries.
Exempt Salary Grade (31 - 36)
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree plus five (5) years of relevant experience, or
- Associate’s Degree with nine (9) years of relevant experience, or
- High School Diploma or Equivalency with thirteen (13) years of relevant experience is required.
- Experience must include maintaining ORACLE databases.
- Due to the nature of the work, all candidates must be US Citizens.
Preferred Requirements:
- Previous WIPP experience is a plus.
