Do you enjoy working outside and have a passion for boating? Or maybe would like to learn new skills in the boating world? This position will help with day-to-day operations of the marina and dry yard, and contribute to the enhancement of the overall member experience. The ideal candidate is a self-starter, with a strong work ethic and desire to learn on the job.

The Marina Assistant is responsible for the organization and maintenance of Marina facilities, storage and assets, and under the direction of the Dockmaster’s Office. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: maintaining the cleanliness and organization of the dry storage yard, dock cleaning and repair, performing maintenance on club assets such as tractors, dollies, and trailers, assisting members with operating hoists and launching boats, transferring vessels on and off the water, and providing support to the Junior program, Catalina Island Buffalo Beach and various regattas assigned by the Dockmaster and Marina Manager.

Essential Functions:

  • Work in the Boatyard, on the docks, and around the Club premises at all times
  • Ensure the boatyard grounds are free of gravel, dirt, weeds and debris
  • Check both tractors and mules on a daily basis and report any irregularities to Dockmaster and Marina Manager
  • Safely follow SOP’s set as directed by Marina Manager and Dockmaster
  • Follow Business Calendar and Daily Checklist to ensure completion of necessary tasks
  • Assist members with operating hoists and launching boats
  • Other duties as assigned by Marina Manager and Dockmaster

Work Experience, Skills and Abilities:

  • Demonstrate strong verbal communication skills
  • Ability to follow instructions and pay close attention to detail, and is a team player
  • Skills in organization and time management combined with a high level of initiative
  • Ability to quickly absorb policy and procedure standards
  • Stamina to work outdoors, good at thinking quickly and sorting out problems on the spot, and the ability to stay calm in a crisis
  • Have working knowledge of boats, trailers, yard equipment, and tractors
  • Ability to lift and move heavy objects, such as boats and boat equipment
  • Ability to perform physical tasks swiftly, safely, and with minimal amount of instructions

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour

Schedule:

  • 8 hour shift
  • Weekend availability
