Description
The 911 CAD Administrator is responsible for overall management of the City's Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) system including management of peripheral systems such as Mobile Data Computers (MDC). The 911 CAD Administrator also acts as a liaison between customers and other agencies to implement program changes, updates, and corrections, and addresses other system issues as identified. The CAD Administrator assesses, proposes, coordinates, and implements: solutions to hardware and software issues, system modifications, system enhancements, and system replacements.
Duties
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Serve as point of contact for dispatch to resolve inquires and technical requests, CAD or PSAP related

Maintain superior overall performance of the CAD system. Perform regular analysis to isolate the source(s) of problems which may result from software, hardware, and/or operator error. Diagnose and resolve problems to enhance the dependability and accuracy of the CAD systems. Consult with systems' vendors/suppliers to troubleshoot as needed.
Perform routine hardware, operating system, and software maintenance. Coordinate service with vendors/suppliers as needed. Install and integrate any additional hardware or related equipment with the current system.
Administer system security controls to protect access, integrity, function, and security of system data files. Maintain system logs for procedural accountability.
Setup/verify/validate server and workstation backups to a remote backup device.
Handle calls for service (system problems/outages) during on-duty and off-duty hours, on call regularly.
Attend user agency group meetings as needed or assigned.
Attend vendor-sponsored training events and regional user group training.
Coordinate the review of error reports and follow up on clearing error report backlogs. Provide feedback to appropriate user(s) to minimize/eliminate future errors.
Receive and evaluate system modification recommendations generated by users to aid in performance of their duties.
Consult/advise user agency representatives on the acquisition, feasibility and implementation of CAD hardware and software products. Maintain accurate records of accountability/viability of system equipment.
Meet regularly with the 911 Director and the IT/GIS Director to provide status reports on the CAD systems.
Manage frequent contact and interruptions throughout the working shift, and respond after-hours by providing technical support to users, and troubleshooting network, interface, and application issues.

Minimum Qualifications:
1. Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems management, or related field.
2. Three years of experience in technical support and programming in an environment with multiple systems.
3. Knowledge and experience with CAD related products and current Windows Server Operating Systems.
4. Possess and maintain a valid driver's license.
5. Pass a criminal background investigation, fingerprint investigation, and maintain clearance per CJIS standards.
6. Preferred experience working in a public safety emergency services workplace.
