We are currently looking for a Fine Art Account Executive to support the US Fine Art team but also develop new relationships and business opportunities. The US Fine Art team sits within the Marine Division of MINT.
The Marine Division is based in London but has some limited representation in other key business locations. We accept risks in the areas of Hull, Cargo, War, Specie, Liability and Terrorism on a world-wide basis. We are leaders in a number of our chosen areas and require a commitment to technical expertise and accuracy to maintain this leadership position. A great emphasis is placed on the relationship between the insured and insurer, with a focus on meeting clients and producers in their home territories. Business is written through both Markel Syndicate 3000 and Markel International Insurance Company Limited.
What you’ll be doing:
- Assisting on the underwriting of an existing portfolio of business whilst growing and developing independent book of new business.
- Supporting the team with all aspects of the underwriting process
- Marketing and presenting the Markel brand to brokers and insureds.
- Act as advocate for Markel and the Fine Art team and communicate regularly with other underwriters with authority.
- Promote collaboration throughout the Markel global network to advance line of business profit and growth goals.
- Domestic and international travel when appropriate.
- Assisting the team in achieving its portfolio growth, client retention & loss ratio targets.
What we’re looking for:
- Extensive wholesale and retail Fine Art underwriting expertise required.
- Ability to grow and develop a profitable portfolio of Fine ART business
- The ability to develop positive relationships with the brokering community.
- Demonstrate expertise in delivering outstanding underwriting results required.
- Broad understanding of claims, actuarial, product development, regulatory and compliance functions.
- An individual who understands and enjoys working in a highly matrixed environment.

This role is based on a hybrid schedule of 3 days in the office and 2 days remote for candidates who are within 1 hour of a Markel office. Scheduling discussions are based on business and individual needs which are approved by this manager for this role.
The base salary offered for the successful candidate will be based on compensable factors such as job-relevant education, job-relevant experience, training, licensure, demonstrated competencies, geographic location, and other factors. The base salary range for the Account Executive position is $105k-$140k/year with a 40% bonus potential.
