St. John Neumann Catholic Church is one of the largest and most vibrant parishes in the Austin Diocese. The parish was established in the hills of Westlake (West Austin) in 1984. The famous (mosaic) dome church sits in the center of a 28-acre site nestled between Loop 360 and Bee Cave Road.Our Pastor, Fr. Dean Wilhelm, along with 33+ staff personnel oversee several departments (ie. Liturgy, Music, Faith Formation, Facilities, Outreach, and Operations) to include a Preschool. One of our goals at St. John Neumann, commonly referred to as SJN, is to make us all disciples of Christ and to evangelize throughout our community; baptizing and teaching them as Jesus taught us. Our parish community serves over 2,500 families and continues to grow with new families joining our faith community monthly.
One of the many highlights of our "Sunday experience" is the professionalism and dedication of our Music ministry. Mr. Benjamin Balleza, our Director of Music is an accomplished musician who oversees the music department and continues to attract talented Cantors and volunteers. Our Contemporary Choir is an amazing program that is comprised of many talented youth. Our hope is that it will continue to flourish under the direction of an experienced Assistant Director that will hopefully continue the rich tradition of elevating the Sunday evening Mass through music.
