Job Description

Blackstone Talent Group, an award-winning technology consulting and talent agency is seeking a Cloud Systems Architect to join our Client's team.


The Cloud System Architect is responsible for the planning, coordinating, designing, building, and implementing of application architectures, modernizations, and migrations throughout the customer cloud enterprise. The Architect is also responsible for accurately communicating and disseminating any key environmental changes or impact areas to Cloud Team leadership and overall IPT team in areas such as costs, licensing, technical impediments, or security challenges. The Cloud System Architect is also expected to assist and provide expertise with cloud-related proof of concepts, and missions throughout the environment. Our client requires an individual who can manage the delivery of major containerization deployments which aim to provide an improvement to customer cloud operations, efficiencies, automations, and governance. The individual will:


  • Work with key stakeholders and leadership to drive cloud migration effort forward and ensure alignment with strategic objectives.
  • Display excellent interpersonal effectiveness and communication skills (written and oral).
  • Apply best practice methodology to cloud and application architectures where possible
  • Communicate effectively and consistently within team environment
  • Develop and maintain consistent documentation and architecture diagrams
  • Assist project managers in meeting various project/application deadlines
  • Build relationships of trust across functions and organizations; collaborate effectively across teams to define strategy, goals and commitment to timelines and deliverables.
  • Anticipate the needs, risks, and challenges based on agency and mission priorities.
  • Map out blockers and dependencies; communicate & establish mutual commitments with related external teams; create or help with solutions to remove blockers and mitigate risk
  • Recommend improvements to established business processes and technical architectures/methodologies while continuing to deliver high value in the execution

Required Education, Experience, & Skills:

  • A Completed Bachelors or Master’s Degree in a technical field; we may consider a certain amount of AWS or Cloud experience in lieu of formal degree. (Bachelors + 8; or High School + 14)
  • A minimum of 8+ years’ work experience managing a cloud enterprise.
  • AWS Solutions Architect and/or AWS SysOps Administrator Associate (Professional Preferred).

Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills

  • Exceptional process and analytical capabilities.
  • Experience in System Administration, including System Design, Configuration, Maintenance, and Upgrades
  • Experience in architecting, designing, developing, and implementing cloud solutions on AWS platforms
  • Experience migrating and supporting large and complex systems in an enterprise environment in the cloud
  • Experience managing cloud infrastructure in a production environment to ensure high availability and reliability.
  • Knowledge of change management tools (Atlassian/JIRA)
  • Automating system deployment, operation, and maintenance using Infrastructure as Code, Ansible, Terraform, CloudFormation, and other common DevOps tools and practices
  • Knowledge of Federal requirements and compliance models including but not limited to FedRAMP HIGH, GovCloud. NIST, and PII standards.
  • Understanding of cloud-based methodologies
  • Familiarity and proficiency of the AWS GovCloud platform
  • A working familiarity of major DevOps containerization platforms such as AWS EKS/ECS, RHOSA (RedHat OpenShift), K8 (Kubernetes), and vmWare Tanzu
  • General Information Technology concepts including authentication and networking.
