Summary:


Our Global Total Rewards team is looking for a Compensation Advisor to support the compensation strategy for the Liberty Mutual Investments (LMI) organization. LMI manages Liberty Mutual Insurance Group’s (LMIG) global financial assets across global public and private markets to build capital and generate income. With over $100 billion in AUM and staffed with ~300 investment, finance and operations professionals located in Boston, MA, LMI offers the best of both worlds — the look and feel of a boutique investment firm and the reputation and financial strength of a global leader.


The role is responsible for balancing the targeted compensation needs of LMI with the cohesiveness of the enterprise by delivering client-focused, innovative results. This senior technical professional (individual contributor) role partners with the LMI Senior Compensation Advisor to oversee all the activities of the design and implementation of compensation programs for the Investments business - including but not limited to short-term and long-term incentive plan design (formulaic and discretionary) and carried interest programs. Responsible for advising and providing compensation solutions related to staffing and retention needs. Delivering high-touch customer service and collaboration across key internal and external stakeholders. Experience in investments/asset management compensation is strongly preferred.


Responsibilities

  • Act as strategic compensation partner, trusted advisor, and relationship manager for Talent team and senior business leaders across Liberty Mutual Investments.
  • Direct planning, design and implementation of compensation programs and projects (including job evaluation, market pricing, base pay, incentives, and annual cyclical processes)
  • Support the establishment of, in partnership with talent stakeholders, short-term compensation priorities and long-term compensation plans for LMI.
  • Conduct detailed analyses to support the design, development, and evolution of investments compensation programs, to better align with current industry trends and competitive landscape.
  • Act as project manager, team member or advisor on large-scale compensation projects. When necessary, work with outside consultants to conduct special studies on pressing compensation issues.
  • Handle multiple concurrent and diverse initiatives. Independently and proactively address potential conflicts that impact current delivery commitments. Re-prioritize work and reschedule commitments as necessary. Respond to shifting priorities while maintaining progress of regularly scheduled work.
  • Proactively identify opportunities to redefine and streamline processes. Partner with key stakeholders to develop and implement changes and recommend best practices. Document new procedures and workflow accordingly.
  • Identify and apply advanced metrics, reporting and analyses to measure the effectiveness of compensation program design and delivery.
Qualifications
  • Advanced knowledge of compensation programs and practices
  • Demonstrated success of developing, communicating, & implementing compensation programs that attract and retain employees and drive performance.
  • Excellent interpersonal and written/verbal communication skills; strong executive presence and ability to work closely with the highest management of the company.
  • Advanced experience in project management including project scoping, planning, and execution
  • Strong ability to build rapport and trust with client groups to positively influence decisions and actions
  • Strong understanding of business needs and how to leverage compensation expertise to meet those needs; demonstrates flexibility and adaptability
  • Displays strong analytical, decision making and problem-solving skills
  • Advanced ability to manage multiple priorities and address competing points of view
  • Competencies typically acquired through a bachelor`s degree (preferably in Human Resources or Business) or equivalent experience, in addition to 7-10+ years of relevant and progressively more responsible experience, to include 5-7+ years of compensation experience
  • Experience in investments/asset management industry and awareness of industry trends is strongly preferred.
