Job Overview
Job applicant should have direct on-site construction experience on impoundments and landfills. The Supervisor will be assigned complex projects within the program.
Experience should include excavation, solidification, dewatering, capping and all other tasks associated with closures. Applicant should also be proficient in other heavy civil activities (i.e., landfill capping, sheet pile installation, large-volume material handling, etc.).
Management of all phases of project activities that range from small to large in value and a variety of scopes that include engineering, applied science, procurement, construction and /or operations. Directs preparation of work plans, supervises project teams, and manages project safety, scope, budget, and schedule. Other duties may be assigned as necessary.
The Supervisor serves as the crew lead and task manager on the project. Responsibilities include work procedures, scheduling, cost control, project specification conformity, review of manpower levels, monitoring and implementation of safety programs, project conformance to national, local and/or company building codes and the maintenance of accurate records.
Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities:
- Responsible for overall project workmanship and goal attainment.
- The Superintend will report to the Project Manager.
- Helps establish, implement, and monitor project safety and quality programs.
- Represents the company when dealing with clients and maintains client relationships
- Recommends solutions to construction and architectural discrepancies.
- Responsible for all phases of planning and execution on medium projects as defined by medium potential risk, complexity, and manpower requirements.Plans, organizes, coordinates, and controls project activities in accordance with established policies, procedures, systems, and requirements.
Inspects field work to evaluate construction progress, efficiency of operation and cost control.
Assist in estimating and developing a project execution plan, assemble the proper personnel, develop a project timeline, identify required resources, and execute the plan to completion.
Uses proposals, plans, specifications, and related documents to analyze labor, material, equipment and time requirements.
Prepares and reviews plans, specifications, and drawings and schedules to coordinate work phases and work priorities in their assigned area/task.
Facilitates the efficient use of personnel and equipment in their area.
Coordinates movement and use of equipment and supplies with procurement.
Requisitions tools, materials, and equipment in accordance with established procedures and necessary lead times
- Supervises project personnel.Responsible for the satisfactory conduct of construction operations and task accomplishment in their area in an economical, efficient, and timely manner on a project.
Monitors craft performance relative to budget, schedules, and deadlines.
Implements and enforces work rules.
Basic Qualifications:
- Job applicant should have direct on-site construction experience on soft sediments like gypstacks impoundments and landfills.
- 4-year degree in construction-related field (or equivalent construction-related work experience).
- 10 years of experience in field construction is required
- Requires a comprehensive knowledge of construction-related processes, as well as a thorough knowledge of industry practices.
- Proven leadership and management capability.
- Good written and oral communications skills.
- Experience should include grading, solidification, dewatering, capping and all other tasks associated with closures.
- Good knowledge of working within impoundments including dewatering, excavation and stabilization activities associated with waste material
- Experience with environmental remediation and landfill construction requiredHas accountability for managing financial resources, cost and schedule for field construction activities
- Provides safety and technical guidance to employees
- Anticipates and interprets customer needs and identifies potential solutions to customer problems
- Works within established budgets can evaluate productivity data.
- Can identify and report to Project Manager out of scope services, change of field conditions, or other issues that may result in negative impacts.
- Resolves operational, customer, employee or technical problems that impact the effectiveness of own area
- Advocates for and constantly encourages the professional growth of subordinate team members
- Ability to pass pre-employment drug screen and/or pre-employment physical
- Ability to work in an outdoor environment, in a variety of weather conditions
- Availability to report to work upon "short notice" of job assignment
- Must have valid driver's license and clean driving record
- Ability to pass a background check
