Job description
BASIC SCOPE/PURPOSE:
The Mechanical Drafter II will report directly to the Technical Support Manager, and be responsible for programming a VTL with live tooling, Horizontal Mill, Lathe with Fanuc Controls, and Reverse Engineering. Work time would be spent between Vidor and Port Arthur locations.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Read and understand AutoCAD drawings/sketches and standards
- Consult with engineers to discuss or interpret design concepts, or determine requirements for detailed working drawings
- Measuring parts using instruments such as rulers, calipers, micrometers, gauges, etc.
- AutoCAD basics - understanding SAES standard CAD commands
- AutoCAD basics - use SAES template and procedure to constraint drawing
- AutoCAD basics - draw hand sketches to 2D drawings
- AutoCAD basics - measure to draw 2D drawing for parts like sleeves, impeller, etc.
- Meridian basics – search, read, and print drawings
- RFQ basics – details to be checked before drawing, fill and update information
- Mechanical drafting using Auto Cad
- Reverse engineering pump parts (impellers, pump cases, bearing houses, etc.)
- Make assembly drawings checking fitment and proper running clearances
- 3-D modeling pump parts w/ inventor
- Operate a Faro Arm collecting data for part development
- First article casting inspections
- Part repair work scope development
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILLS:
- High School diploma/GED and/or 2+ years of equivalent work experience
- Able to communicate effectively and professionally. Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Previous experience working as a member of a successful team.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Inventor Cam and Master Cam experience
- AutoCAD experience
- Reverse Engineering Pump Parts experience
- CNC Programming experience REQUIRED
