Description of Organization:
TLG Services provides decommissioning related services to our external customers (principally nuclear plant operators or nuclear facility operators) and to Entergy. Among the key services that TLG provides is the development of well-supported decommissioning cost estimates and related financial reports and testimony, other services include consulting, project planning, and project engineering/management. TLG work products are frequently used for regulatory filings, corporate financial planning/reporting and public service commission rate case hearings.

Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Assist with preparation of decommissioning cost estimates for nuclear reactor and radiological facilities and fossil / renewable power plants and industrial facilities.
  • Collect and organize data, used for the preparation of decommissioning cost estimates using estimating models provided by TLG. Perform physical plant inventories (e.g., quantities of a plant’s structural material and equipment) through material takeoffs from drawings and/or by on-site walk downs.
  • Assist with development of work breakdown structures of decommissioning tasks or project activities.
  • Work with project team members, as well as clients, to assist in establishment of significant estimating bases and assumptions.
  • Extensive work with and development of EXCEL spread sheets to perform calculations.
  • Perform reviews of calculations and reports prepared by others.
  • Assist with the production of formal reports.
  • Participate in project review meetings.
  • Research relevant industry experiences and evaluate its applicability to decommissioning estimates.
  • Assist with decommissioning planning and consulting.
  • Assist with analysis of radiological and hazardous material, and safety data for the development of decommissioning scope and remedial task approaches
  • Assist with characterization and/or historical site assessment of structures, systems, components and environmental media at client facilities

Minimum education required for the position
B.S. Degree in Engineering or another closely related scientific discipline/physical science generally associated with power plant operations or equivalent work experience (equivalent experience defined as demonstrated success at the engineer/technical specialist level).

Minimum experience required for the position
  • Engineer, I: 0+ years
  • Engineer, II: 2+ years (1 year with master’s degree)

Minimum knowledge, skills, and abilities required for the position
  • Good to excellent communication skills both oral and written
  • Strong interpersonal and analytical skills.
  • Experience with Microsoft EXCEL spreadsheets, as well as use of MS WORD, PROJECT, and POWERPOINT (or equivalent)
  • Familiarity with reading and interpretation of industrial facility structural, equipment lay out and system P&ID drawings.
  • Able to Travel to nuclear, radiological and industrial sites and customer meetings.
  • Ability to pass background checks and citizenship requirements, as required to enter nuclear facilities.

Desired Qualifications:
  • Experience in Cost Estimating and/or Nuclear Power
  • Familiarity with nuclear reactor; radiological, chemical, industrial and power plant facility structures, systems and components.
  • Knowledge or experience in nuclear / radiological decommissioning, industrial dismantling and demolition, and/or environmental restoration projects.
  • Familiarity with Nuclear Regulatory Commission and/ OSHA work, safety and environmental protection program requirements associated with work in nuclear, radiological, chemical and/or industrial facilities.
  • Computer programming experience.

Any certificates, licenses, etc. required for the position
Desired: SRO license or certification on a PWR or BWR; Professional Engineering license.
