We are currently looking for a Special Education Teacher to work Part Time at a high school in North Providence, RI.

Responsibilities and duties for High School Special Education Teacher

• High School Special Education Teacher implements a curriculum aligned with the RI Common Core Standards using a variety of resources that provide differentiation and diversity (including but not limited to things such as Problem Based Learning, Social Emotional Learning and Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports.)
• Provide supervision and behavior management that reflects trauma informed practices.
• Assess and keep accurate records of student attendance, grades and progress that will assist in future placements and referrals.
• Prepare, present, and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEP) based on the specific needs of the students on their caseload.
• Complete quarterly grade cards and progress notes to keep parents, districts and educational advocates informed of the child’s progress as appropriate. High School is to be aligned with the sending district graduation requirements.
• Write a Discharge, Transition or Student Summary of Performance Report when a student is going to the next grade or transitioning to another school or program.

Qualifications for High School Special Education Teacher:

• Bachelor’s degree in Education with RIDE Certification in Mild to Moderate Special Education

Candidates with any secondary core content certification (math, ELA, Science, History) interested in pursuing special education are strongly encouraged to apply.

Ability to commute/relocate:

• North Providence, RI: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (Required)

Experience:

• Teaching: 1 year (Preferred)

License/Certification:

• Special Education Certification (Required)
• Teaching Certification (Required)
