About the Evansville State Hospital:
Evansville State Hospital is one of the Indiana State Psychiatric Hospitals who are committed to the mission of Hope and Recovery. Residing on 88 acres on the east side of Evansville, Ind., our facility provides medical treatment for chronic mental illness and substance abuse disorders from our dedicated team of psychiatrists and advanced practice professionals. Active Treatment helps our patients achieve their goals directed towards living in the most non-restrictive environment possible. Our team of professionals assist our patients in the treatment process involving medical staff, nursing, psychology, social work, rehabilitation therapy and our community integration program. Evansville State Hospital continues to maintain accreditation through The Joint Commission as an Inpatient Psychiatric Hospital as well as Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services certification as a Psychiatric Medicare/Medicaid Hospital.
Salary: This position traditionally starts at an annual salry of $26,312.00. Salary for this position may be commensurate with education and job experience.
Location: This position is located in Evansville, IN.
About the Job:
To maintain a clean, safe and sanitary environment according to infection control standards.
A Day in the Life:
- Floor Care - Dusts, damp and dry mop floors. Strips, waxes, seals, buffs and vacuums floors and shampoos carpet as assigned.
- Restroom Cleaning/Sanitizing - Cleans toilets, urinals, sinks, tubs, showers and plumbing fixtures. Replenishes dispenser supplies and empties trash.
- Trash Removal - Empties waste baskets, replaces liners per area/unit specification and washes receptacles as needed.
- High/Low and Surface Cleaning - Cleans walls, windows, cabinets, furniture and light fixtures, per departmental procedures.
- Supplies/Equipment - Maintains and stocks supplies in restrooms, supply carts and Environmental Services closets throughout the hospital. Care and use of equipment per departmental procedures and manufacturers’ guidelines.
- Safety - Knowledge of chemical usage; SDS guidelines; knowledge of hospital infection control and hazardous material procedures. Proper use and maintenance of equipment in accordance with manufacturers’ guidelines.
What You'll Need for Success:
- Must obtain CPR and CPI certification, demonstrate ability to perform techniques, and maintain certification throughout employment.
- Working knowledge of the proper care of and ability to use cleaning equipment such as mops, brooms, vacuum cleaners, power scrubbers, polishers, and buffers preferred. Working knowledge of the variety and uses of cleaning and sanitizing agents preferred. The ability to follow written and verbal instructions. The ability to complete necessary reports and order forms.
- Must be able to work occasional overtime, weekends, and/or holidays.
Physical Effort
Depending on the duties performed or environment setting, frequent walking, standing, climbing stairs or ladders, bending, stooping, pushing, pulling and/or similar movements may be involved.
