We are hiring! Atkins seeks an IT Infrastructure Project Manager to join our Global IT Infrastructure and Operations team in Atlanta, GA, Houston, Austin, TX or Miami, Florida. This role can also be located anywhere in the U.S. where we have a local office.

Atkins part of SNC-Lavalin is a global business with datacenters in the Americas, Europe and the Middle East. The Global IT Infrastructure team deliver enterprise scale IT projects that include Cloud, data center moves and modernization, high end compute, storage and network projects. Delivering complex technologies with diverse global resources.

The Project Manager will manage the delivery of projects within the IT Infrastructure team. You will ensure that internal processes for change management, finance and delivery lifecycle are followed. You will report to senior colleagues on weekly project progress and any issues. You will work collaboratively with teams across multiple global time zones.

The role is based in the North America Region and can be home or office based. There will be a requirement for occasional travel to regional offices and potentially overseas.

How will you contribute to the team?

  • Undertaking internal project management assignments to meet the specific needs of the organizations divisions and functions
  • Manage projects that consist of cross-disciplinary teams to ensure the successful delivery in accordance with agreed timescales, quality, processes and procedures
  • Work closely with customers, aiding the development and delivery of requirements to enable accurate and clear understanding of needs and aspirations
  • Assist with the creation of business cases for projects if required
  • Interface with and manage outsourced and managed service partners to ensure best value solutions are delivered across the organization
  • Negotiate resources required for project delivery teams both internally and from partnered organizations
  • Proven experience of delivering process efficiencies and improvements
  • Ability to build and maintain efficient working relationships with remote teams
  • Ability to balance multiple priorities
  • Demonstrate ability to take ownership of and accountability for relevant products and services
  • Ability to plan, prioritize and complete your own work, whilst remaining a team player
  • Willingness to engage with and work in other technologies
  • Prince2 Practitioner or PMP project management methods and practices
  • Able to demonstrate application of formal project management methodologies
  • Clearly evidenced track record of successful project delivery through application of project management principles, methods, techniques and tools from initiation through to implementation
  • Working knowledge and application of techniques including business case preparation, requirements management, planning, risk and issue management, change control, and configuration management
  • Specific experience of leading at least one of a data centre move, a storage migration, a WAN implementation, a virtual platform or Enterprise wise OS modernisation program.
  • Experience of budget, cost management and control for multimillion dollar projects in a global business
  • Can communicate complex processes and concepts to diverse technical and business teams
  • Well-rounded individual who will create a highly effective project team delivering value to our customers
  • Have a bias toward action and can break down complex problems into steps that drive delivery at speed.
  • Appreciation of user-experience, business and commercial issues.
  • Provide leadership through a proactive can-do attitude
  • Inquisitive and adopts a creative approach to their work
  • Well-developed interpersonal and stakeholder management skills with the ability to communicate, clearly and succinctly, at all levels from technical though to senior management

What will you contribute?

  • B.S. in Computer Science or another IT major. This level may be achieved by practitioners with 7 years of experience since related Bachelor’s degree or 4 years since Master’s degree.
  • Typical incumbent has 8-10 years’ experience as a Project Manager.
  • A background in IT Infrastructure and awareness of 3rd party managed services
  • Experience of using ServiceNow to manage project tasks
  • Ability to quickly gain high-level understanding of new technology and development processes
  • Flexibility in both attitude and approaches to work
