Work Schedule: This position is a full-time 40 hour a week position with the potential for mandatory overtime.

OBJECTIVE

Coordinate client transportation services for the Goodwill of Colorado’s GoodWheels program. This individual will guide and influence the team of transportation drivers that, together, lead to customer satisfaction and repeat business while maintaining high quality and rehabilitation services. This position is a full-time 40 hour a week position with the potential for mandatory overtime.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Individual must be willing to be certified in CPR and First Aid and to maintain the certification.
  • A minimum of one (1) year experience providing staff supervision
  • Experience in client transportation preferred
  • Maintain a valid Colorado driver’s license, without a history of major violations. Need to put full driver requirements

The Lead Driver must have compassion and understanding for all GoodWheels clients. They must be able to read and understand road maps, maintain, follow and adjust schedule of client pick-up and drop off times. The incumbent will follow rules and regulations for driving within the state of Colorado.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS/PREFERENCES

Experience assisting persons with disabilities in a rehabilitation setting preferred.

The individual must demonstrate leadership, management, and administrative skills. Must have a high degree of maturity, conduct self with diplomacy, must demonstrate good judgment, responsibility and initiative. The individual should possess effective interpersonal and communication skills including the ability to manage people, work cooperatively, to organize work, and make good decisions. The Lead Driver must be able to manage people and deal with conflict effectively and constructively. The individual must conduct self in a professional manner, maintain a professional appearance that enhances the firm’s reputation, and be a positive role model. In addition to the competencies listed below, the individual must have the ability to demonstrate a high level of energy, innovation and be an inspiration to others.

Per contract requirements with vehicle insurance provider: Qualified candidates must be 21 years of age and have no major traffic violations for previous 3 years (for driving/insurance purposes). Must have reliable transportation; must also be able to operate company vehicle.

KEY RESPONSIBILITY AREAS {Essential Functions}

Vehicle Safety and Compliance

The Lead Driver will develop and maintain clean, safe work conditions and vehicles for the transportation team and clients. Individual will conduct inspections to ensure the vehicles are clean inside and out, maintained, and ready for daily use by the transportation team. The Lead Driver will ensure that all safety practices and federal/local laws are observed, and repairs are documented and reported immediately by the transportation team. Individual will ensure all maintenance is scheduled and complied with for the fleet of rehabilitation transportation vehicles. The Lead Driver will ensure that all vehicle mishaps are reported in accordance with Company Policy. Individual will record maintenance required by Federal, State Laws, and Commission on the Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF). Maintain all necessary vehicle documentation on a current basis.

Leadership and Support

As an employee of Goodwiill, it is expected that the Lead Driver will seek opportunities to advocate the vision, mission, strategic plan and philosophies of the company. The Lead Driver will develop and carry out strategic objectives by creating a plan of action for implementation by determining that all resources, time commitments, and strategies are in place to meet unit objectives and contribute to overall success of the department. The individual will promote and set the standard for conduct and appearance in keeping with a professional working environment and will guide others to ensure this is achieved. As a team leader, the Lead Driver will promote and sets the standard of a team concept within the workplace. The individual will also perform all other duties as assigned or directed by the Transportation Manager.
