Position Summary

Essential Functions:

  • Maintain mechanical and electrical equipment, factory facilities, buildings and grounds
  • Responsible for securing, leveling, aligning and the mechanical hookups during machine installations
  • Install and maintain electric power and lighting circuits, compressed air, water, gas lines and other equipment as required
  • Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic and logic systems
  • Read and interpret drawings, sketches, specifications and instruction manuals
  • Paint surfaces throughout the plant using hand brushes or power spray equipment
  • Work with sheet metal or other metal forms to fabricate, including layout, shearing, forming, welding, cutting and brazing
  • Read and use micrometers, calipers and dial indicators
  • Operation of tools and equipment common to the general maintenance trade
  • Maintain proper records of all machine work, including preventive maintenance schedules
  • Complete all daily 5S duties
  • Train, instruct and assist trainees through the training period
  • Perform these and all other duties as assigned by Supervisor or Management

Requirements:

  • All team members are expected to keep their work area clean, organized and maintain a high level of safety and quality
  • Must be able to successfully pass qualification testing (mechanical, numerical, verbal, abstract reasoning, space relations etc.)
  • Must successfully complete Maintenance Program class requirements at an approved educational institution or possess documented equivalent knowledge/experience/education through prior employment and/or educational background
  • Requires basic computer skills
  • Must supply a majority of the hand tools required in the performance of work
  • Ability to proceed on work assignments with minimum supervision or assistance
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Ability to work within High Performance Teams (HPT) guidelines
  • Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language, including spelling, grammar and composition
  • Ability to communicate effectively with operators, engineers, vendors, management, etc. as well as with other team members, including between shifts
  • Must be able to stand, sit, climb, squat, reach, bend, twist, reach and work overhead, walk and carry parts intermittently throughout shift
  • Must regularly lift and carry 50 lbs. on an average throughout shift
  • Must occasionally lift and carry in excess of 75 lbs. in dealing with tooling, holders, baskets, units and other parts
  • Must be able to work at elevated heights on work platforms or lifts

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Good verbal and interpersonal communication skills
  • Good math, reading and writing skills
  • Strong mechanical aptitude
  • Basic computer skills
  • Sound decision making skills, strong troubleshooting skills
  • Required:
oMinimum 5-years machine/mechanical maintenance experience in a manufacturing setting
oAdvanced knowledge and experience in electrical
oWillingness to attended additional training classes if necessary
  • Preferred:
oAssociates degree or working towards a degree/certificate in field
oInjection Molding maintenance experience
