Job Description:

This position is for an experienced and highly capable leader responsible for maintaining a quality management system and for managing a team that promotes customer satisfaction and positively impacts the company’s financial performance through process and product improvements. Must champion continuous improvement efforts and defect reduction initiatives establishing an effective quality management system, initiating and implementing quality improvement activities as appropriate (i.e., Lean, Six Sigma, Team Building, etc.) to raise the performance of the company’s product lines, and to educate and train employees as to their impact in the quality management system.

Essential Functions:

  • This position reports to the Quality Department Senior Manager.
  • Manages, trains, and guides the quality department personnel.
  • Manages the department’s budget and other administrative functions to insure an efficient operation that is cost effective and well integrated.
  • Formulates, communicates, and manages the development and implementation of goals, objectives, policies, procedures, and systems pertaining to the ISO 9001, FAA, and other regulatory functions and system requirements.
  • Performs as Quality Assurance project lead for cross-functional projects including problems and resolution, losses, and continuous improvement projects and status.
  • Supports concurrent engineering efforts by participating in design development projects representing Quality Assurance and the customer.
  • Designs, implements, and documents procedures for process control, process improvement, quality control, and system audits.
  • Establishes and implements metrics to enable managers to make product quality decisions, such as process capability, control charts, and quality measurements for monitoring system effectiveness.
  • Establishes collection and analysis systems of statistical data to predict trends that will affect improvement of product quality.
  • Oversees root-cause analysis and other problem solving activities to identify effective corrective actions and process improvements.
  • Reviews customer purchase orders, contracts and statements of work and change requests to ensure that the necessary criteria and provisions are included in quality and process plans. Analyzes customers’ product specifications to establish efficient, cost-effective requirements for ease of inspection and quality control.
  • Interacts with customers to identify opportunities to improve quality and establish feedback with manufacturing and the development of personnel.
  • Develops and manages quality planning methods for all product lines.
  • Monitors vendor performance to establish criteria and rating systems for critical vendors for performance feedback.
  • Interfaces with supplier and customer quality representatives concerning problems with quality control and assures that effective corrective action is implemented.

Qualifications:

  • Diverse knowledge of inspection and control methods, techniques, calibration, and documentation.
  • Broad knowledge of theory and principles of statistics and statistical process control.
  • Experience in design and prototype manufacturing desired.
  • Bachelor’s degree (BA or BS) in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Quality, or Business Administration.
  • Requires management and leadership knowledge in job area. Typically has comprehensive knowledge and skills within a specific technical or professional discipline and may have broad understanding of other areas within the job function. Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 9 years prior related experience. Graduate Degree with a minimum of 7 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 13 years of prior related experience.
  • Ten or more years experience or equivalent in QA systems implementation and management.
  • CQE/CQM/CQA certification with experience in a production manufacturing environment.

In compliance with California's Fair Pay Act, the salary range for this role in California is $110000 - $204,000. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location.
