Job Summary
Campus Dining Services (CDS) at the University of Colorado Boulder (UCB) encourages applications for a Material Handler I! This position is responsible for receiving goods and accurately storing and rotating food product as well as the cleanliness, sanitation, and organization of the storage areas. Additionally, to help manage inventory, this role processes all invoices to ensure that the physical delivery of products matches the quantities and amounts on the invoice. Using the department vehicle, the Material Handler will timely distribute and transport goods and equipment to the dining halls or on-/off- campus locations as requested by the department.

What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be
Receiving & Storage
- Ensures that all shipments received are free of damage, accurate and if required, temperature controlled.
- Coordinates, prioritizes and adjusts daily receiving activities to ensure products are put away in a timely manner.
- Ensures the rotation of stock and that all goods are stored in appropriate area and secure.
- Uses computer and communication skills to update supervisor of damaged shipments and incorrect invoicing.
- Offers excellent internal and external customer service.
- Ensures any last minute changes requested by supervisors are completed.
Safety / Sanitation
- Ensure a clean safe working environment for all faculty, students staff and visitors at CU Boulder.
- Ensures goods are delivered at accurate temperatures. Uses PPE and practices approved lifting techniques.
- Asks for assistance when appropriate.
- Performs daily cleaning, maintenance, and sanitation of facility and monitoring of cold storage areas for proper temperature.
- Reports issues or needed repairs to supervisor.
- Serves on the food safety response team and responds to all food safety emergencies as appropriate to the work assignment.
- If a work cell phone is provided, a response call must be within an hour of the original call and/or message
Inventory
- Assists in inventory of goods, products and supplies, enters inventoried quantities into computer (FSS), and decides when to move inventory to a different storage location when needed.
- Daily observation and communication with Operations/Production Manager regarding any products that have low turnover, have been over purchased or are soon to expire.
Other Duties
- Assists other facilities when requested and performs other tasks as delegated by immediate supervisor.
- Participates in CDS special events as requested.
- Operates company vehicle to deliver goods to department facilities as requested.
What You Should Know
- All University of Colorado Boulder employees are required to follow the campus COVID-19 vaccine requirement. New employees must provide proof of vaccination or receive a medical or religious exemption within 30 days of employment.
- Ability to obtain and maintain commercial motor vehicle (CMV) license required, and successful completion of University of Colorado's Safety Training Program within 90 days of employment to operate vehicles.
- This position is considered Essential Services.
What We Can Offer
The salary for this position is $33,363 annually.

What We Require
- One year of experience which includes warehousing, handling, shipping, receiving, storing, inventory, and/or distribution of goods.
- Appropriate education will substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.
- Must complete all University required trainings within 30 days of hire. Servsafe certified (or certificate appropriate) or the ability to obtain appropriate certification within 6 months of hire. Must maintain appropriate Servsafe certification for the duration of employment with CDS.
What You Will Need
- Ability to work in extreme cold conditions for extended periods of time (PPE provided).
- Capable of working in a fast paced environment while providing excellent customer service skills.
What We Would Like You to Have
- Food protection manager certified.
- A strong understanding of the flow of food from purchasing to, ready to prepare state.
- Knows and can recite receiving temperatures as well as appropriate storage areas for goods and products.
- Ability to prioritize stocking/shelving to ensure accurate product temperatures are maintained.
