  • Certification as a Medical Technologist by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists, or Clinical Laboratory Scientist by HEW, or American Medical Technologists.
  • Maintain current BCLS Certification.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Evaluate and interpret laboratory results.
  • Specific knowledge related to function and use of scientific laboratory equipment.
  • Theoretical knowledge of testing procedures and their use in the diagnosis and treatment of disease.
  • Ability to learn and use computer information systems effectively for the position.

Perform a variety of laboratory tests as ordered by the physician. No Call or Phlebotomy!

  • Process specimen for tests as requested.
  • Operate laboratory equipment and perform laboratory testing, including:
    • evaluation of quality control and patient results
    • results input and reporting to the proper receiving area
    • instrument preventative maintenance and troubleshooting when needed
  • Perform job duties in compliance with hospital and laboratory safety policies and procedures.
  • Frequently interact and communicates with other departments/disciplines within the healthcare setting.
  • Demonstrates the ability to understand and react effectively to the unique needs of pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric age groups.
  • Philosophy consistent with the Hospital’s Policies, Confidentiality, Privacy, and Corporate Compliance programs including Federal and State Laws.
  • Philosophy consistent with the Hospital’s mission to deliver high quality and compassionate health care services to our patients, physicians and communities we serve, focusing on customer service.
  • Perform other related work as required.
