Mt Van Hoevenberg, located in beautiful Lake Placid, New York, is seeking individuals to join our experience program staff for the summer! Our summer experience offerings include our indoor climbing, Discover Biathlon, Discover Luge, Mountain Biking and guided hikes (see https://mtvanhoevenberg.com/). We are looking for people who have any experience with these activities, or people who are interested in learning or expanding their skills. Those with experience in only one of two of these areas but a desire to receive training in other areas are encouraged to apply! We are happy to cross train you in other skills to make you a valuable addition to our team. We are a team that’s passionate about recreation, and love to work outdoors. Skills in communication, problem solving, and customer service are all valuable. Employees will act in a “front of house” capacity, and will interact with guests daily. The skill levels of these guests varies from local experts to visiting families experiencing these activities for the first time. The ability to work with varying skill levels and be able to teach both simple and more advanced skills will allow you to shine in this position! Both full-time and part-time work is available. Weekends and holidays required.

· Work to provide guests with excellent program experiences at Mt. Van Hoevenberg. Program areas include the Climbing Wall, Discover Biathlon, Discover Luge, Mountain Biking, on venue guided hiking experiences

· Prior knowledge of/experience in any program areas is valuable.

· A passion for working in recreation, and the desire and ability to work outdoors for long periods of time in variable weather.

· Good communication, problem solving, and customer service skills are mandatory.

· Employees will be cross trained in program area skills so that they can work in different areas as needed

· Mountain Bikes: Will size bikes for customers and use rental tech station system to track bike rentals going out and coming in and will assist in managing the inventory and maintaining equipment

· Discover Mountain Biking: Will prioritize safety of the guests and go over all safety precautions and equipment at the start of every session. The staff member will assess the skill level of the guest and provide a customized experience based on their needs and goals . The guide will take our guests out on to our biking trails and provide a safe and fun environment.

· Discover Luge: Will prioritize safety of the guests and go over all safety precautions and equipment at the start of every session. The staff member will teach our guests how to use a wheeled luge sled and then walk them through a progression of skills giving them a first hand experience at driving a luge sled. Provide a safe and fun environment for the guests while also giving them a one of a kind experience with insight into the Olympic movement and its sports.

· Discover Biathlon: Will prioritize safety of the guests and go over all safety precautions and equipment at the start of every session. The staff member will teach our guests how to use a Biathlon rifle and then walk them through a progression of skills giving them a first hand experience at shooting on a world class Biathlon Range. Provide a safe and fun environment for

· Climbing wall: Will prioritize safety of the guests and go over all safety precautions and equipment at the start of every session. The staff member will provide harness and shoes to guest ensuring everything is fitted properly and will provide guidance on the use of our different climbing walls as well as provide insight into skill progression.
