Responsibilities
Job Purpose
Key Accountabilities
- Attend to all aspects and issues related to renewable project operation and asset management
- Structure, draft, review and effectively negotiate a variety of commercial contracts supporting the various functions within the operations group including the project sites and the back-office support functions such as procurement, engineering, environmental, operational excellence and the regulatory compliance teams
- Ensure compliance with the company’s financing agreements and work with the financing group to obtain consents and waivers as needed to support the company’s project operations
- Assist in the development of standardized forms
- Provide education and training on various topics as well as legal policies and procedures
- Research and provide guidance on compliance, regulations, policies, and proposed legislation affecting business priorities
- Provide concise and thoughtful legal advice
Qualifications
Experience/Qualifications/Education Required
- J.D. from a top law school, and good standing with at least one U.S. State Bar
- Minimum of five (5+) years of experience, preferably in a business legal advisory role, with experience drafting, negotiating and advising on complex commercial arrangements
- Prior experience representing operators, developers and/or generators, including in utility and/or C&I markets, is a plus
- Experience advising with a commercial mindset that can come up with legal solutions is a plus
- Outstanding business acumen, decisive critical thinking skills and professional confidence
- Proven ability to effectively manage multiple projects with shifting priorities, work independently and operate in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
- Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
- Prior project development and finance experience is a plus
- Prior Renewable Energy experience is a plus
- May have to travel on occasion
