Job description

Responsibilities:

• Enforces state and local laws
• Ensure the safety and security of the public by responding to emergencies, aiding victims, and reducing or preventing involvement in crime
• Build relationships and contribute to the health and safety of the community
• Create community awareness by using crime prevention methods or intervention initiatives
• Conduct investigations by interviewing suspects, witnesses, and collecting evidence at crime scenes
• Participate in and testify at court hearings
• Process incident reports with accurate detail and information.
• Safely operate various police equipment and vehicles

Requirements:

• Willing to submit to required background checks
• Willing to maintain required certifications and attend continuing education
• Valid driving license
• A high school degree is required, college degree preferred
• Pennsylvania Act 120 certification is required at the time of hire

• Open to working various shifts such as evenings, weekends, nights, and holidays
• Ability to stay calm in stressful or high-risk situations, and deescalate volatile situations
• Sound judgment, and practical decision-making skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Capability and desire to work collaboratively with a wide range of people
• Strong negotiation and adjudicating skills
• Developed analysis skills for researching and investigating
• Excellent knowledge of standard operating procedures, judicial procedures, civil and constitutional laws
• Knowledge and skills of law enforcement principles and practices
• Adequate interpersonal and communication skills, and the ability to build effective working relationships
• Conflict resolution and problem-solving skills
• Responsibility, dependability, honesty, and integrity

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: From $45,000.00 per year

License/Certification:

• Act 120 certification or currently enrolled in the academy (Required)
