Pest Control Service Technician (Dallas / Lewisville, TX area)
Job description
Description:A Romney pest control technician is responsible for providing pest remediation and prevention solutions to residential and commercial property owners. The duties of pest control techs include conducting inspections for insects and vermin and advising on and implementing effective treatment plans to remedy infestations.
A pest control technician typically performs multiple tasks in a single service call that may include treating affected areas with chemical and natural insecticides, setting up animal traps and placing bait in suspected high-traffic areas. In many cases, pest control technicians return to homes and businesses after performing initial treatments to determine if additional remediation procedures are required and/or to remove deceased rodents and other animals.
Primary Duties (may include all or some of the duties listed below):
- Run and service all route customers according to company standards and procedures
- Conduct thorough interior and exterior inspections to locate dangerous pests
- Spray perimeters of homes, commercial property and/or structures for termites, ants and other insects
- Safe and efficient removal of wasp, hornet nests
- Lay down bait pellets to eliminate rats and mice
- Set traps for rodents
- Mix, apply, and work with pesticides following state and federal laws
- Maintain proper inventory of pesticides in usage
- Advise customers of potential problems
- Serve as the subject matter expert for customers by implementing the most efficient and overall best pest solution for each customer's individual needs
- Offer sound advice on both chemical and natural pest control remediation options
- Recommend and provide estimates for one-time treatments and continual maintenance
- Keep accurate records of treatments provided
- Collect payments for services rendered
- Maintain truck and equipment in proper working order
- Keep management informed of any problems encountered on service routes
- Other tasks as assigned and required by management
Requirements:
- A clear understanding of the safety protocols for pest control, including wearing properly fitted respirators when working with chemicals and donning protective clothing and gloves
- Physical stamina to endure heavy lifting of equipment and excessive bending and kneeling to locate pests in hard-to-reach areas
- Be able to lift and carry up to 80 pounds
- Familiarity with electrical and plumbing systems in the event of infestations in the pipes or chewed wiring
- Good interpersonal and communication skills when speaking with customers and advising on treatment methods
- Exhibition of strong attention to detail when performing pest detection and treatment procedures
- Willingness to learn new extermination techniques and procedures based on industry trends
- Requires basic computer & smart phone literacy (email, Excel, Word)
- Excellent customer service: written & verbal communication
- Ability and willingness to work flexible hours (40-hour work week)
- Requires a valid Texas driver’s license with safe driving history
- Ability to be self-motivated and follow through with commitments
- Adhere to all safety rules, regulations, and label specifications
- Commercial Pest Control: Current Certified Commercial Pesticide Applicator or Registered Pesticide Application Technician certification.
Pest control technicians report to lead technicians and pest control company owners or branch managers. In addition, apprentices and individuals participating in on-the-job-training programs report to the pest control technicians training them.
