In this role, you have the opportunity to join a growing team as a Product Manager with Mercury Systems and our Mission Systems, Computing, and Displays business lines collaborating with product leadership, product marketing, engineering, operations and the business unit leaders. This technical role bridges the gap between what our customers need and what can be built, serving as an advocate internally (with engineering teams), and externally (with vendors and customers).

In this role, you will drive the development and communication of the product line's key value proposition and serve as the central authority on the product line's design, manufacturing, test, quality and marketing throughout its life cycle. You will also play a key role in increasing the profitability of our existing products and helping to identify and develop new products that address anticipated future customer needs.

The successful candidate will be a driving force helping to evolve our existing product lines based upon inputs you glean from a variety of sources (e.g., within the company, from suppliers/vendors, or from customers in the field). Candidates must possess a unique blend of business and technical savvy; a big-picture vision, and the drive to transform visions into detail oriented differentiated product deliverables. This role is ideally suited to someone seeking to work in a fast-paced B2B domain.

Responsibilities:
  • Drives operational aspects of new product introduction, from concept through development, production, and end-of-life
  • Develops and maintains product roadmaps aligned with our defense and aerospace customer roadmaps
  • Collaborates with sales, technical customer support, operations, engineering, and product marketing to achieve stated goals throughout the whole product lifecycle
  • Creates and maintains operational support/partnerships in coordination with product managers for new projects, sustaining products, legacy products and systems, and sales support
  • Provides technical support/partnerships for new projects, sustaining products, trade shows and sales support
  • Manages product operations with regards to the application and enhancement of standard services to products and promotes associated revenue opportunities across product lines
  • Collaborates with business unit General Managers to generate bookings, revenue and profit forecasts
  • Supports Sales with identifying and capturing strategic customer design wins
  • Creates and maintains competitive product reviews, analysis and report findings of data gathered from customer interactions centered on their application requirements \
  • Monitors industry, technology, and competitive trends to position us to win in our chosen markets
  • Owns end-of-life planning, purchases, and long-term life cycle management for assigned product lines
  • Drives sales and marketing collateral generation
  • Develops and executes product launch and marketing strategies
  • Provides sales support as necessary to drive product line adoption and financial goals
  • Tracks projects and marketing metrics
To succeed in this role, you should have the following skills and experience

  • Minimum 5 years product management/product operations experience is required
  • Defense and/or aerospace or similar technical/industrial experience in a product management role
  • Specific technical knowledge in cockpit management systems is preferred
  • Candidate needs to have been proven to work well with a team and possess excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Must be able to take complex technical subjects and make them understandable to customers, both internal and external, of varying technical ability by using analogies and illustrations
  • Requires a solid understanding of product hardware and software development processes
  • Full understanding of industry practices/policies/procedures
  • Some travel may be required (primarily within the US with infrequent trips to Europe possible)
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance preferred
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience
