The Ferguson Florissant School District is seeking an outstanding educator for the position of Early Education Head Start Teacher. Minimum Qualifications

• Must be certified in Early Childhood Education
• Must have expereience working with young children
• Early Childhood Special Education certification preferred

Duties/Responsibilities

Preschool and Pre-kindergarten

• Provide developmentally appropriate engaging classroom experiences for 3-and/or 4-year-olds.
• Plan, supervise and implement a learning environment emphasizing the child's opportunities for learning.
• Develop a learning environment stressing literacy, social skills, discovery and problem solving.
• Support learning experiences that emphasize representation through language, art, music and motor activities.
• Develop curriculum materials based on Missouri Early Learning Standards and Teaching Strategies GOLD.
• Exhibit competency in administering, scoring and interpreting screening tests.
• Implement pre- and post-tests as required.
• Study test information in preparation for individualizing work with children.
• Explain to parents the child's strengths and weaknesses periodically throughout the year.
• Maintain developmental checklist on all children.
• Maintain and update working files on all children.
• Help implement IEP's.
• Utilize parent involvement in class.
• Work collaboratively with the parent educator assigned to the classroom.
• Maintain close supportive relationships with parents.
• Support other members of the team.
• Contribute ideas to team planning and discussion with staff.
• Utilize information from parent and observational skills in learning about each child.
• Promote the development of social skills in young children.
• Participate in professional development.
• Demonstrate high standards of apparance, ethics and behavior serving as a positive model for students and parents.

Reports

• Prepare class reports of skill development.
• Prepare regular reports for Head Start purposes.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
