Roles and Responsibilities:
Job Summary/Overview:
The Quality & Reliability department at SAS has ~100 diverse members and is growing rapidly as we prepare for a second location in Taylor, TX. The department is comprised of three groups: Manufacturing QR (MQR), Technology QR (TQR) and Customer QR (CQR). The MQR group (~60 members) has three main teams: Systems, Product and Operations. Each MQR group has 2 or 3 sub-teams to drive various quality improvements for the site. Every day, SAS Q&R members protect our business and our customers by effectively identifying and reducing risks. We are currently searching for future members to join our department who have genuine interest and drive to make people's lives better by improving semiconductor quality.
The excursion management team in MQR Operations is responsible for containing and ensuring proper disposition of non-standard material. We work closely with departments across the site including Fab Engineering, Defect Metrology, Process Integration, and Customer Engineering. We are seeking candidates with strong technical backgrounds in semiconductor processing to join a team of top-performing engineers for our Austin and/or Taylor sites.
Specific Job Duties:
- For wafers failing in-fab measurements, execute containment and ensure proper disposition through close collaboration with other departments. Track closure rates and drive response improvements.
- For larger incidents that result in non-standard processing, prevent escape of out-of-specification material to our customers. Coordinate cross-department response including creation of data collection plan, review relevant data, and execution of disposition agreements.
- For large and small scale issues, team members constantly drive improvements to increase efficiency and improve disposition accuracy.

Skills and Qualifications:
Education, Training, Certification(s) and Minimum years of experience required
- Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or related Science or Engineering field is required.
- Minimum of 4 years of relevant engineering experience with a Bachelor's, or 2+ years with a PhD will be considered
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Software, and Tools
- At least 3 years of semiconductor industry experience.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Ability to quickly learn new systems and adapt to change.
- Demonstrated ability to make and meet deadlines and commitments.
- Great communication skills when working with cross-functional teams.
- Ability to sit for prolonged periods while working on a computer. Ability to lift 25 pounds at times.
- Experience in process integration or process development, especially for advanced nodes.
- Skill with statistical analysis programs (e.g. JMP, Spotfire).
- Programming and/or scripting experience (e.g. Python, R).
- Experience with content systems such as Confluence.
- Certifications in Lean, 6 Sigma, or PMP.
- Willingness to grow through exploration, knowing that failure is just an opportunity to learn.
