- Valid MN teaching license in a special education field.
- Ability to work collaboratively and positively with a multi-disciplinary team
- Knowledge and experience with due process procedures
- Excellent communication skills
- Experience with conflict resolution
- Training and experience in behavior management and knowledge of crisis response
- Reports to Director of Special Services and Building Principal
- Lead/attend/participate in child study meetings and co-facilitate the team when planning evaluations
- Complete initial student evaluations collaboratively with the psychologist and other team members and provide consistency and quality controls for evaluation reports
- Coordinate the enrollment and planning for move-in students with IEPs
- Provide oversight for due process management at the site
- Participate in meetings with parents and the team to explain the process, address concerns, be a parent resource, make adjustments to the IEP and/or program, problem-solve and plan transitions (may also be the District Rep)
- Coordinate with Principal, Assistant Principal, Psychologist and Dean
- Oversee paraprofessional training and assist the teachers in planning their schedules
- Sit on district-level SPED leadership team
- Be an ancillary member of the building BILT team
- Provide mentorship to SPED teachers
- Provide intervention/cosulting/coaching to general ed teachers for academic and behavioral support and offer next steps
- Help access curriculum, materials and technology for teachers serving students receiving special education services and assure alignment with the general education standards
